The latch sticks out into the aisle, so it gets hit by people passing by from the entry door to the main seating area in back. I've only had to replace it once, but the plastic wasn't meant to take a direct hit from the side. Looking at them now; Amazon.com: RV Drawer Latches and Catches, 4 Pack RV Cabinet Door Replacement... The usage seems to be meant for an 'inside the drawer' latch. So maybe the LD factory was using these to hold the doors open, and they weren't really meant for that use. At least they are easily available, not very expensive. For those owners who have worn out that 'V' in the metal rolling metal drawer guide, these can be installed inside the drawer, to hold it closed while driving.
