2007 LD 31’ CCC
Hi everyone, even thought we sold our 2007  31 ft, still this site.   Larry has been very help full throught the years, in my opinion mis-leading about 31 foot carring capacity.   We had 63,000 miles it traveling all overU S, some od Canada and been to Alaska 2 times.  Always left with FULL tanks of water, gas
propane, etc.  We pulled a Jeep over the highest mountains without issues,  Overall interior-exterior  capacity was great never wanted more space usually never had to use it all there is so much.  The suspension system was great not altered still orginal when sold.

As is said, to each his own experience.

Hello Bob, it’s good to see you that you’re hanging around the neighborhood.

It is certainly clear that you’re a very experienced RVer who has completed some epic trips. It’s also clear you took very good care of your much love LD.

When you were loaded for trips as you described above, did you ever get your RV weighed?

Look forward to hearing from you.

NOTE … I cut and pasted Bob’s post from the classified section so as not to hijack the OP topic.

All E450 built before 2008 had a 14,050-lbs GVW, those built after have a 14,500-lbs GVWI, the 24' models have the same GVW as the 27' and 31' models.
Since we are talking about a 2007 model,, let's compared CCC between different length LDs of that model year.
CCC is the cargo weight available for food, personal items and supplies. This  includes all cooking gear, clothes, tools, fluids,  camping chairs and table, leveling blocks, air pump, hoses, cords, BBQs and all the other assorted items that are needed and/or wanted for day to day camping and travel. A hydraulic leveling system, a popular option, can use almost half of the 30's CCC.
The weight builds quickly. I have seen many overloaded 27' and 30' models. I have used over 2200-lbs of my 23.5' LD's 2622-lbs of CCC.

2007 LD CCC for : 30 IB 767-lbs, 30 TB 734-lb,   26.5' MB 1541-lbs,  23.5' FL 2622-lbs.
The weight numbers are taken directly from the LD Factory specification sheet for the 2007 model year.

It's a simple fact, the 31' models have the greatest amount of cargo SPACE and the least amount of WEIGHT capacity.
It's a manageable issue but one must not yield to the urge to fill every compartment with all the goodies one would like to take. Having the rig weighed after outfitting can be an eye opener no matter the length.
The 30' models do require a more frugal camping style, it's a matter of physics.

Hi again

Did have it weighted more than once,  do not recall numbers but results were no problem.

We did carry some items in our tow jeep but never overloaded.

I guess frugal is a matter of interpretation we never found ourselves in want for something that was not there, lucky I guess

Bob,

Obviously you were disciplined enough not fill every storage bin up with heavy items. 30' LDs have a huge amount of storage compared to the shorter models, at least twice as much room as my 24' model.

I tend to collect rocks.  On our cross-country shakedown cruise in 2014, I was concerned, remembering "The Long Long Trailer".
USPS has their 'if it fits, it ships' boxes.  At several points, postal employees asked "what do you have in here, rocks?" I may have shipped over 100# home,  saving ballast for the towd.   ;)
