Generator Fuel Pump and Filter
After many months of procrastination I finally installed a new generator fuel pump and filter.  Maybe this is an easy job for some but NOT for me.  Hours of scraped knuckles, lots of sweat, and a significant amount of colorful language.  The space is so tight with parts and wires!  I hope to never have to do this again.  Never🤞.

Btw, this is the video that helped me.

I've got to the same things but I'm going to have to drop the generator as the top of it almost is touching the top of the compartment.

Hi DesertDust;  The vid that Ed posted about covers the newer MicroQuiet that Lazy Daze switched to in about 2003. It is a one cylinder, more electronically controlled genset with an internal muffler. It has a fuel filter, but no oil filter.
You have an older Onan Emerald, possibly a 'Plus' version like my '99 has. It has a two cylinder engine, no fuel filter and does have an oil filter. It runs at half the RPM that the MicroQuiet does.  Trouble shooting is different.  You do have access to the second sparkplug from the back side with about a 4" x 6" removable cover.
I've had a similar shutdown issue with my Emerald Plus. It was caused by the choke being set to the wrong setting. Your video shows the Winter/Summer switch, where that shows.  There is also an altitude adjustment available. a rotating knob, where you can trim the mixture to about the altitude you are at.
The Emerald is very sensitive to high or low oil level. Too much oil and it can expand as it warms up, and shut off because of too much oil. If the level is too high, the oil gets frothy from hitting parts inside. The air bubbles prevent proper oiling, and shuts down the engine..   RonB
edited:  the oil filter wouldn't work well without an oil pump.  The MicroQuiet uses 'splash' lubrication.  Thanks MarkT

....................The Emerald is very sensitive to high or low oil level.........................With no oil pump, it relies on 'splash' internal lubrication. ..........................

The Emerald line of generators LD used definitely has an oil pump.

(The later MicroQuiet 4000 relies on "splash" lubrication.)
