Ford "service"
6 months out of warranty last September for my 2021 the cab air conditioning quit.

The Ford dealer charged the system but could find no leaks but recognized that there is a slow leak somewhere and that it most likely started during the warranty period.

So we take a trip up north and the AC quits. I then spent $1,300 in Wenatchee Washington getting it fixed. It worked for a little while but has quit again and now we need to head home south from Montana to Southern California during a heat wave.

We are going to be forced to insulate and shut off the back part of the RV and use the generator and house AC during the heat as we drive. We're going to hope that this helps keep us cool.

I'm so disappointed in Ford along with my out-of-pocket expenses for such a new vehicle.

I do have a case pending with Ford corporate to see if we can remedy all of this but I'm not too hopeful.

Thanks for listening and if anyone else has a newer lazy daze with AC problems I'd like to hear about it.

That's horrible!!  Were you able to get the dealer to say it most likely started during the warranty period?  That would seem to solidify your case with Ford Corporate.

Perhaps someone here has a connection with Ford?

I called corporate the first time and made sure they were aware of this.

On my recent call corporate said they had no record I'd called.

Such BS because they only charged me $124 the first time cutting me some slack.

No record?

Definitely time to document the hell out of every service, phone call, email or text.  Have an attorney friend or family member?  If not, I know a guy down your way if you want to have a nasty letter sent.

What did they do for $1,300?  Assume this was also a Ford dealer?

They had to remove the front bumper and grill and replace a line they said was leaking at the fitting.

Yes, it was a Ford dealer in Wenatchee Washington.

When I get home in a couple of days I'm going to sit down and write it all out and gather all of my emails and conversations.

This hearkens back to the misfire problem that Dave Katleman had with his Ford engine. Many visits to Ford both here and in Canada, before a Ford dealer in Buffalo N.Y. found a well established TSB  (Technical Service Bulletin) about it that detailed a loose crankshaft position sensor.
Google yeilded this:  2022 ford tsb about air conditioning slow leak of refrigerant - Поиск в Google
And a Search of the Ford Forum got this:  2022 HVAC blowing hot air on driver - TSB may be on-the-way | Ford Expedition...
Lots of possible leads out there in cyberspace!

Thanks OED! ( 'hearkens is part of my vocabulary and I looked it up to make sure I spelled it correctly. It informed me that it is 'archaic', and mostly considered obsolete!)    RonB

I did a quick search on Service Bulletins for 2021 and saw nothing related to Air Conditioners though a Google search does mention a high level of AC complaints for various aspects of the Econoline E450 that year.  Perhaps a helpful service advisor could do a proper search through the Ford Bulletins to see if one fits Tedeboy's problems....

Update.

The service in Wenatchee Washington totaled $1,321.
The service at Kearny Mesa Ford just now is $1,800.

The final reimbursement is a 39% average.
I'm expected to pick up 61% of the total cost ($1,937).

This for an air conditioning system about 4 years old.

I'm not impressed with Ford.

Yes this happened about 5 months after warranty expired but I've never heard of an air conditioning system going out this fast with so many problems.

The $1,321 was worthless as the problem wasn't resolved.....did Kearney at least get it fixed?  As I shared before, I'd get a nasty letter from an attorney prepared and sent off.

They're fixing it at Kearny Mesa right now. There were two separate issues here. There was a hose fitting replace in Washington and now an air compressor.
I think before I jump to the attorney I'm going to write a timeline and send it to the CEO and vone of the VPs.

That's probably smart...show you exhausted all means including reaching out to appropriate Ford folks....it's a shame they aren't more proud of their own product!

I deleted that post.

I hadn't had enough coffee yet.
They are the ones picking up to 61%.
