Wrapping as opposed to painting? June 03, 2025, 01:07:12 am Hi, just wondering if anyone has done or looked into wrapping the outside of your LD, as opposed to painting? If so any pros or cons? I heard doing a really nice paint job can run up to $ 20,000? Just really need the bottom half done. Still would like the original colors if painted or wrapped. Any opinions welcomed! MeMa

My understanding is that the Tesla Cybertrucks, which come from the factory a stainless steel metal color, are “colorized” using a wrapping method. I’ve never hear of a LD’er using that method but, perhaps?

Reply #3 – June 03, 2025, 11:50:25 am It costs several thousand dollars to have a car wrapped. If wanting to reproduce the paint on an LD, with full graphics, it could cost nearly as much as a repaint. There is a huge amount of body to cover, compared to a car.If you want better paint, it would be cheaper to buy another LD, one with good paint. The polyurethane paint used by LD usually lasts many years. Our 22-year-old LD has always been parked in the sun, the paint isn't too bad considering the age and 151,000 miles of road exposure.A wrap is going to more susceptible to damage because they are soft plasticLarry 1 Likes
