Black Tank Elbow Fell Out September 29, 2025, 11:50:36 am Funny thing happened this morning with our ‘15 MB. I had just dumped and was putting the black tank valve cover back on and it pipe felt loose. One or two gentle wiggles later the elbow with the gate valve came cleanly off. It just slipped out of the opening to the black tank. The adjustable clamp is still in place. There are no apparent cracks. Pics attached. Good thing it fell out after I dumped…So, a couple of questions. In re-inserting the elbow into the black tank, do I need to use ABS or PVC adhesive? There doesn’t seem to be any glue residue on the end of the elbow. If adhesive is needed is the elbow ABS or PVC? If no adhesive is needed, then is the only task to re-insert and tighten the clamp? Re: Black Tank Elbow Fell Out Reply #1 – September 29, 2025, 12:48:30 pm Our LD came with two hose clamps securing the black dump valve.I suggest adding another hose clamp to double the clamping force. Do you still own a 2015 and a 2022 LD? His and her rigs?Larry 1 Likes

Pick up a couple of new ones for peace of mind and a bright and shiny look. The LD boys went against their grain on this connection. I expected it to be glued in solid! Gotta say though, this setup makes valve installation a lot easier!jor

Re: Black Tank Elbow Fell Out Reply #4 – September 29, 2025, 01:18:57 pm So if I had this situation, I might rough up the surface of the pipe a bit with some coarse sand paper, right where the clamps are, so that it wouldn't slip out so easily in the future. I'm pretty sure that my dump ports are firmly glued into my tanks. Then again I think I'll check that now while the tanks are empty. Sounds like tightening those band clamps needs to be on my underneath inspection list. RonB

Re: Black Tank Elbow Fell Out Reply #7 – September 29, 2025, 06:36:00 pm I had a partly-full black tank when a piece of road debris (Route 10 East, in West Texas) knocked the valve loose- but not completely off. I didn't notice until a couple days later, at which time I made repairs.When I got home I added a support bracket. Picture is below. Sorry it doesn't show the valve end of the bracket. I vaguely remember attaching it to one or two of the four machine screws that hold the valve to the piping. Could be imagining things, though. How does the saying go: "Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!"?Mark H.

Re: Black Tank Elbow Fell Out Reply #9 – September 30, 2025, 09:59:23 am I worried about same think happening on my '17 mb. Pipe had been attached to the fiberglass panel but that did not hold. I added 2 narrow aluminum strips - one on each side of the fiberglass for strength and then reattached the end of the black pipe. Fix done in June, 2018, with 12,000 miles.
