about to lower the generator...
OK, I'm about to attempt to lower my generator so I can do a deep service... wish me luck.
looks like it may have been done before, the carb isn't green and has the 1/8 npt elbow for the fuel inlet.  Seems the sketchiest part will be managing the fuel line, 110V cable and the remote switch cable (which I cant see yet)

The fuel line usually needs to be removed from the generator before lowering an Emerald generator.
In my experience, LD left enough cqbling to allow the generator to be lowered to the ground.
This will be a good time to change the spark plugs.

Keep an eye on the cabling while dropping the generator, they may not be llong enough. Every installation is a little different.

Not enough cabling but that's OK, I only need enough so I can work on the top.  There's an access hole in the steel housing on the back to get to the back spark plug.  Torx screw for the pump is stripped out - will be attending to that in the morning.  Airbox was assembled poorly, air filter wasn't too bad but inside the carb was filthy - surprised it ran at all.

had one small problem; despite ordering and receiving a genuine number-matching Onan fuel filter, the tube fittings were not the same as the old filter so the factory formed tube would not connect to it.  So i replaced the assembly with a new hose and automotive fuel filter.  The filter has a clear glass section which I like because one can see the condition.

An aftermarket filter is fine and does what needs to be done.
I just noticed you have a GP30, indeed a rare bird. Odds are it spent time in my driveway years ago when I still worked on LDs. LD built very few of them before GM discontinued build  The GP30 was very different from any other LD, with the flip-up hood.
Bring it up to Morro Bay in March for our annual GTG. The last time I saw a GP30 was there about 10 years ago, the owner could not find the 'hidden' circuit breaker that supplies power to the Power Center. Steve and I spent a bit of time finding it.

you mean the switch under the hood?   when I first got it I figured there must be a disconnect somewhere since NOTHING in the coach worked..  took a little cable tracing to find it.. works great!
Love that hood!  my first rig was a Flair class C and I hated working under that teeny little sliver of a hood.
I dunno about Morro Bay, my wife and I honeymooned there and made many vacation trips...  since her passing some things have been difficult.  Didn't I see somewhere the group had a GTG in Desert Hot Springs?  I can almost skateboard to that town (it's all down hill)    8)

Hi Bill; I understand about your situation.  The Desert Hot Springs get together (Halloween) was one of eight or nine meetings a year of the Originally sponsored Caravan Club started by the Factory. The Club split off in the '80's I believe.  They are represented by the Facebook group now.
      The Yahoo group, used to be the Lifewithalazydazerv group, is now the Lazy Daze Owners Group here. Since about 2016 we are self supporting, and make a small amount of money from people who buy from Amazon, through our group. That money goes to support our computer time, and keep us online.  We only have the one time per year meeting in March.  We'd like to meet you and your coach at any of these meetings.
      The Caravan Club may be having a meeting at Lake Cahuilla in January. I don't know the exact date yet.  February may be at Tucalotta Springs RV park (Hemet) (the hills behind Temecula wine country).     RonB

OK, just bought the new mattress for the motorhome using that link..   do I need to use that link everytime or does the cookie make it happen when I open up the Amazon link?
