Thoughts on a 2005 LD for sale with no use for 5 years?
I'm eyeing a 2005 LD 23.5' E-450 V10 that is currently for sale and wanted to get perspectives on how much of a concern it is that this rig has not been on any trips for the past five years, but they claim to have maintained it during that time. They have put 95k miles on it and are the original owners.

I am still awaiting a response on what specific maintenance was done, but he's sent me receipts from "major service" last month only showing new house batteries, new fuel pressure regulator, and oil change and filters. He has also winterized annually. Rig has been stored in outside covered storage (said seals are "original - reasonable condition.")

What would be my major concerns for a rig that hasn't been used for five years?

Generally speaking it’s better for motorhomes to be regularly operated to include all its components like the air conditioner, refrigerator, water heater, etc.  The engine, transmission, generator and all the many other components need regular exercise.  Seals can dry and crack, fluids age out, gasoline deteriorate, etc.

On the other hand, a RV or any vehicle can be kept in good condition while in long term storage IF properly maintained.   There’s a lot of online information about the correct way for long term storage which still requires maintenance.

In my opinion the best solution when considering a 20 year old RV that hasn’t been regularly used for 5 years is to use a well qualified RV Inspector so you can make an informed decision.   This certainly isn’t an easy decision.

After twenty years, the various seals on the roof, windows, and end caps usually need resealing. Failure to keep the seals in good shape can lead to water entry and rot of the wood framing, especially around the rear window and rear wall.
If it has not been used in five years, the tires have aged out, and probably the batteries. It isn't good to let machinery sit unused for long periods. Seals in the engine, transmission, and axles can dry out if not moved for long periods.

I suggest a thorough inspection by a knowledgeable tech.
