Newbie wannabe with questions about early V10 Editions

My favorite RV so far is my converted Sprinter.  But my wife LOVEs Class Cs  So guess what I'm looking for?

I started reading Lolos 25 year old travel Blog and ran into the Lazy Daze.   Perfect- incredible build quality, E450 with the V10 (i have an Excursion).  She loves the layout (from photos, have not looked at one)

I'd love to hear from  people who have put a lot of  miles on one from the 98-2002 range.   Most other  class Cs don't live long enough to have this conversation.

How have the generators held up?  Among the Onan nerds the Marquis and the Emerald are not well regarded.   What are good replacements?

55 Gallons seems like a lot but i'd prefer more range.   Are there any good additional tank options?

I think 1997 was the first year for the V10 in ANYTHING, any problems besides the spark plugs for the early edition of that engine?

i like what's out there at  the $20,000 price point.   We could go higher but i'm comfortable with 25 year old vehicles, especially Fords.     If I'm not mistaken, the next big upgrade is the 5 speed auto arounf 2004, but is it an upgrade?

You should be familiar with this.  It's a great reference for when things like transmission and generator changes happened.  Changes by year

Onan generators are overbuilt for RVing.   I think most would say the Microquiet 4000 was a big upgrade, but many would also spent the $ on batteries and solar instead of generator replacement if faced with a choice.  

55 gallons is plenty, IMHO.   400 miles (6 hours) on a tank at highway speeds.   I don't know of any tank upgrades.  Most of the extra space on the chassis is taken up with gray and black water tanks.

I’ve driven my 2017 E450 to Alaska & Newfoundland, the 55 gallon tank was never an issue regarding range.  I drive to remote places in general.

But I habitually drive on the top half of the tank, if not the top third, because breaks are good.

That link is a goldmine- thanks .  Really looks like age does not mean much.   305 hp in 2000 and a five speed in 2006.  but really very similar across a decade.
