Bathroom Door Latch - Is there a better "universal" replacement? April 30, 2025, 11:14:04 pm I came home this afternoon (still in Puerto Penasco for another week or so) and the bathroom latch was stuck and wouldn't depress. I've actually never liked the latch as it's somewhat temperamental. I removed the door from the hinges (with help) and the door popped open. I did read through the archives to get an idea regarding a replacement and from what I read the replacement latch was still somewhat wonky and prone to breaking. Some people were able to do "fix" with toothpicks that lasted awhile, but is there a better solution for a replacement that I could purchase at a local hardware store here locally that would be not as prone to breaking, etc...There's a local handyman that I've used before to replace the seals on my toilet a couple of years ago that is going to stop by tomorrow and try to fix the latch (but I'd rather get a more stable replacement). Here's a front and back side picture of the latch in question. As always, thanks in advance... UPDATE QUESTIONI found this post from Barry Barnes from almost ten years ago:<snip>After replacing the bathroom latch on our 2001 RB several times, I replaced it with a common cabinet magnetic catch. It has been working fine for several years, and is much easier to use. However, I don't know if he was referring to the actual bathroom latch on the door or the privacy latch that separates the areas of the rig...
Re: Bathroom Door Latch - Is there a better "universal" replacement? Reply #1 – April 30, 2025, 11:41:46 pm That BR lock looks similar to the one in our LD. From time to time I’ve thought about replacing it with a magnetic latch. I don’t have a recommendation since it’s just a half baked idea. You might think about posting your solution. Best of luck.

Re: Bathroom Door Latch - Is there a better "universal" replacement? Reply #3 – May 01, 2025, 07:56:52 am The latch is truly temperamental and flimsy. I order new ones from Amazon and carry a spare so that when the one on the door acts up or breaks, I can replace it with a new one. Simple with just a few screws. Haven’t had any success in finding a more study replacement.
