Electronic Entry Lock December 04, 2024, 11:12:13 am I posted on this a couple of years ago. LindaB thought the RVLock Atlas wouldn't quite fit the door on her 2021. Mine's a 2009. Are the doors the same? This one looks like the right fit (RVLock Atlas) although I haven't removed the lock to take measurements yet. Has anyone done this upgrade? Thanks. jor
Re: Electronic Entry Lock Reply #1 – December 04, 2024, 12:21:39 pm Jor,There is an installation video on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hS3dzQOUVcwIt mentions a calibration nut, which we don't have, and 2.25 to 2.5 inches from edge of door to handle. Ours is more like one inch. The Atlas 2.0 (coming Jan 25) may or may not fit, but I couldn't find measurements or a video on it. If I get to Q this year, I'll be talking to them at their booth there to see if it works.Linda
Re: Electronic Entry Lock Reply #2 – December 04, 2024, 02:58:29 pm I remember few or no postings in the past referring to upgrading of any of the door locks LD used. The coach doors do not disassemble without damage, which is what is needed to allow reconfiguring of the door's interior framing to accommodate the new lock. I'm happy just to keep our door's lock working smoothly..An electronic door lock would be convenient but it does not eliminate needing to have keys available in case the door lock's battery fail. Rats! If one comes available, I'm getting it. My reason is strictly for convenience. Same reason I got rid of all the OEM compartment locks.jor
Re: Electronic Entry Lock Reply #4 – January 24, 2025, 05:47:24 pm The Atlas 2.0 by RVLock was at the Q big tent. It now requires a door of least 1 1/2" thick and a 4.75" x 6.5" hole. RVLock Atlas Fit Guide It appears as if it would fit. They have eliminated the calibration screw, although the pictures at the link above still show it. They include a long and a short deadbolt, the short would fit our rigs. The part I don't like is that it *only* uses the deadbolt. The car door type latch that the original Trimark door handle and lock uses is not used on the new RVLock.Although it seems it would fit and I would be able to remove that bolt from the door frame that I always get snagged on, at $299, I have decided against buying this lock. Re: Electronic Entry Lock Reply #5 – January 25, 2025, 04:13:43 pm Hi Linda and JOR; I bought this door lock, for future use maybe. Amazon.com: ONNAIS RV Door Lock Replacement with Password and Remote... My '99 came with a Bargeman L300 that has wear issues and is not lockable anymore. The dead bolt isn't very robust either. I may just replace the deadbolt with a better quality 'residential' deadbolt, but I wanted a pushbutton password entry in addition to a remote. The remotes include a key, so if you lose it, anybody who finds it can gain access to your rig. Then again a 'jimmy' tool will open the cab door faster than you can blink. I'm not worried about the battery in the lock going dead, since I have a Ford door (also ignition) key hidden in a secure area, that will get me in. As Larry stated, for his and my coach, I would have to make major and permanent alterations to the frame and door to fit this lock into my old coach. I'm sure that FMVSS 108 regulations banned the use of the old door after about 2005. The old door, if the deadbolt wasn't locked, anyone could lean on the interior handle and the door would open easily and fling someone holding the handle into the street. The new door mechanism requires pulling up on the handle to open it. A longer more distinct opening motion. Your newer doors should be a match for the Onnais lock. I've been playing with it and haven't managed to get it to work by remote yet. The documentation is subpar, and I think I erased the password that it came with. The Atlas lock may be a better choice despite the cost. RonB As an Amazon Associate Lazy Daze Owners' Group earns from qualifying purchases.
Re: Electronic Entry Lock Reply #6 – January 25, 2025, 04:42:34 pm Ron,The newer doors have door handle/locks that are more vertical than horizontal. There is a deadbolt in the top part, and on the bottom is an automobile type latch that swings a grab mechanism around a t-bolt that sticks out of the door jam. Bargeman was also in the Q tent and they said they didn't have anything close that would fit our door. 🙁So far the only thing that comes close to fitting is the Atlas 2.
