No towbar key July 28, 2018, 09:06:02 am My 2006 LD had a Blue Ox towbar when I bought it in 2011. Now that I want to remove the towbar I find it was locked with a key to which I have never seen or was told it had. After contacting Blue Ox they informed me they had changed the key formation years ago and do not have any keys for mine. Stated I would probably need to cut this off. Anyone out there run into this and what did you use to remove locked towbar??? Thanks

ThanksI assume the lock is on the pin that secures the towbar to the hitch.Amazon.com: Blue Ox BX8858 5/8" Receiver Lock for 2" receivers: AutomotiveA small angle grinder, with a thin, metal cutoff bladé will cut the lock. Most any mechanic and every welding shop will have this tool.Larry As an Amazon Associate Lazy Daze Owners' Group earns from qualifying purchases.
Re: No towbar key Reply #2 – July 28, 2018, 02:30:33 pm Hi Robin, I had the same problem when I bought a used 2001 LD last year. My lock pin had a really simple lock, flat single edge key. It took me less than 10 seconds to pick! Less messy than trying anything else. A paper clip and a small blade screwdriver were all I needed. After that I got a new pin lock with a cylindrical key, Like Larry posted. (Only to be informed by a friend that $15 would by a 'universal pick' for that lock). Some of your friends may be able to 'pick' it for you. Can you post a picture for me? RonB 1 Likes
