Day/Night shade problem
After 3 weeks in Arizona, Colorado and a little Nevada, we never experienced road surfaces as poor as the ones in our home state California.  The shaking and pounding of the road surface in  the far right and next to the right lane was jarring to us and to the coach.  As I pulled into our driveway, the day/night shade over the window at the dinette came crashing down.  It appears that at least one of the brackets holding it up may be damaged.

1.  Has this happened to anyone else?

2. It appears that the top bar on the shade has a silver glue applied to the areas where the brackets attach. Any idea what this glue is of if it should be re-applied when I put the blinds back up?

The Mothership is sending three new brackets for a nominal fee. When I called, they knew exactly which ones I was referring to and had them in stock.

Harold,

I’ve experienced the same # 1 & 2 lane rattle. The 605 Northbound toward the 210 has many such surfaces repaired. The 405 Northbound out of LA is crazy bad.

A while back I would give full credit to my cab AC going on the fritz to this section of the 405. Our AC is fine now and I no longer accept those two lanes when the going gets rough but instead make my way to the # 3 lane where the going is much smoother.

I can’t imagine Lazy Daze using glue to keep the blinds in place. Sounds like a previous owner patch. You may need to renegotiate the hardware placement.

Some DIY home improvements would have you put some toothpicks in the screw holes to help anchor the screws, but houses don’t tend to shake as much as an RV. That is unless they’re in California. 🤬

I’m confused about the lane numbers. California uses #1 for the far left (“fast”) lane, and then sequentially 2-3-4 as you move right. My experience on the 405 and all other CA roads is that the smoothest are on the left and the bumpiest on the right, where the heavy trucks are supposed to reside And tear up the pavement. I often move left to smooth things out, and watch behind for overtaking vehicles so as to get out of the way. — Jon

When I was headed home after picking up the rig from the mothership, one of the day/night panels fell out.   Vince shipped another complete shade along with 'a special tool' for installation.   That special tool was a 1/4 inch socket that had been tapered to almost nothing on the end.  It helped with the lack of clearance to reinstall the shade.   I resolved to make my own 'special tool' but have yet to do so.  Just a thought.

California uses the leftmost lane as #1; calling it a fast lane is, at times, incorrect.

Hmmm...

Maybe that’s why I have such a huge line behind me all the time.

I stand corrected although it really doesn’t make much since to me 🤪

Reminds me of a song.  Just wouldn't sound right as "Life in the #1 Lane" . . .

There is always a number 1 lane, it is the leftmost lane (closest to the center line) any lanes to the right of number one are numbered sequentially IE: 2, 3, 4,

I will assume from the lack of replies regarding the fallen shade assembly that this is an uncommon occurrence.

Vince did acknowledge that they use a glue between the shade and the bracket.  I didn't inquire what kind of glue it is, so I will improvise when the shade brackets arrive.

Harold,
Sounds like you have a shade mounting problem.
If there is 2 x2 behind the luan panel would a 1" wood screw keep the bracket in place?

My experience with a 1988 antique MB is too little experience to comment on your modern shade problem.
It has  a venetian blind and four blackout roller shades. One roller shade has a broken spring and I roll it by hand and stop it those little modern spring  clamps.  My brackets are all mounted with wood screws.
