Another LD With Electrolysis Corrosion
I posted two pictures of electrolysis corrosion on my 2002 MB in the album "Lambert 2002 MB Corrosion Pictures". A few of the spots have perforated.  I will soon be placing an order for a new 2017 MB and am wondering if I should have these spots "patched up" before selling it or just sell it as is.  Any opinions / suggestions.

This seems to me a personal choice. With winter coming, unless you are selling now, I would lean to a quality repair, with careful photographic documentation of the scope of the problem.

Michigan salt? I grew up and went to school very near Redford. Still remember the Redford Theater, and the fish n chips place, which I believe is still operating. Scotty Simpsons.

Personally, Glenn, I would have them fixed. These ugly corrosion spots will scare off many potential buyers who might wonder if there are other corrosion problems lurking beneath the surface.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think I might have found the cause for the corrosion.  I lifted up the wheel "skirt" and looked underneath.  Though there was a lot of caulking in the wall area that the skirt is attached to, there was some separation.  I think maybe some water spray from the tires got up in there and caused the corrosion.  I applied some more caulk to fill in the separated area.  I'm now thinking about taking it CamperWorld or General RV to see if they will do body work. 

We sent in our order this week for a new Lazy Daze.  This time, I will definitely be super vigilant about maintenance.  Traveling in the LD will be a major activity of our retirement and will need to include "maintenance" trips to the Mothership.

Glenn,

Congratulations on your upcoming NEW LD.

As Paul wondered, "Michigan salt?". I wonder how common the electrolysis of the LD skin is on West Coast Lazy Daze coaches. Is the corrosion primarily due to salt or are there other factors that all of us should be concerned about?

I know the underside of newer LD's has changed over past incarnations, but I wonder if the problem happens "above ground level" as well. Perhaps a leak in the roof or a seam?
