Which Insurance company do you use
Progressive Ins. just took a big jump this year without making any claims. Just wondering what everyone uses so I can can get some comparison quotes. Thanks John in Bend

You might want to look at these RV insurance brokers' websites and shop for a policy that best suits your needs and circumstances.  Coverages, inclusions (and exclusions), rates, and service delivery vary a great deal from location to location.

For example, my policy is with Foremost, simply because it is an arm of Farmers' (my house insurance) and it was convenient. The rates are comparable to other like coverages (high due to my area of residence), but since I've never had a claim, I can't attest to the quality of Foremost's service. 

(Fulltimers' insurance is a whole different ball game, of course.)

Definitely a YMMV choice on this question!  ;)

We currently use Miller as our agent; they have us with Progressive.  We have had a large comprehensive claim and been pleased with Progressive. 

For our next coach, we will have both Miller and Ron Jarvie of Overland Insurance RV Insurance Quote - Motorhome, Travel Trailer & Fifth Wheel do our quotes. 

Both are independent agents and as long as they are licensed to write in your state they can shop your policies.  I have had several recent e-mail conversations with Ron and he helped us tweak our existing Progressive policy even though we aren't currently his clients.  I have been very impressed with his communications, his ability to explain options, and his customer focus.  You won't get a canned answer.

Liberty Mutual has been very good for us. I believe they operate in all 50 states. They allow us to "store" the RV during our off season, and that saves an enormous amount of money.

Folks, the rates for the same company vary by state. You know that. Sometimes, and sometimes for only a year or two, one company might set it's rates in your state low to pull in some business. While another company might set it's rates higher to discourage more biz.

But rates are only one factor. You know that  too.

We use Ameriprise through Costco. Their rates in Alabama are well below anyone else.
Ameriprise did a 15-20 minute phone interview before accepting us.
I would call that cautious under-writing.

Progressive pulled out of Alabama a few years back after three years of rate increases.

Shop YOUR state! Don't go by company name only.

Thanks to all who replied. I go thru Miller as the broker and have been pleased but I just think I need to see what else is out there. I am going to call Costco, didn't know they sold insurance.  John in Bend

Todd, based on experience and reading other reports, I trust "store" only drops collision coverage and not comprehensive (collision is for damage to your coach when you hit something; comprehensive is for damage to your coach when an outside force damages it).

Our one claim was from a storage incident so our comprehensive covered it (even though it was the result of a storage facility situation, the lease agreements are written to protect the facility from claims).

Recently someone on the Escapees' forum had catastrophic flood damage while sitting in a lot for service.  He had dropped both his collision and comprehensive for the storage "season", thus no coverage for the flood damage.

Using State Farm.
I am insurance agnostic, except for Progressive, due to philosophical objections.

Our State Farm agent is local, accessible, flexible. We have used the policy for collision and a few tows. Found the process excellent. I would change, but I don't actively shop or compare rates until my premiums escalate without reason.

I also am a State Farm customer, and have been almost since I started driving. I had insured my Holiday Rambler Travel Trailer with them for 10 years.
Then I purchased the L.D. and shortly thereafter I read some disturbing information re: Un-insuring an RV from State Farm. It seems that if you have a Personal Liability Policy with S.F. (which I do) the premiums will nearly double should you decide to cancel the insurance on your RV. When I checked with my agent, after some confusion, he confirmed the information. Let the buyer beware!  ???    ::)

Paul, just called to renew w Allied (used to be Victoria then Nationwide then Titan, now Allied...sheesh!) and they raised my premium by over $300, with NO claims etc. for over three years. In fact last year, Titan had dropped my cost by $200, to $700 and change. Now they want $1150, same coverage. I'm shopping!

Here in Denver, my Progressive annual premium is $559 on a 2002. Progressive reduces comprehensive and collision deductibles 25% each year you are claim free.

We use USAA for most of our insurance, but they sent us to Progressive for our RV.  I'm surprised every year how little the policy costs. 

With a vehicle as unique as a Lazy Daze, the quality of the claims service is way more important to me than the immediate price.  Talk to some body shop guys and ask how your insurance company is to work with.  They know who presses for cheap repairs. 

A few long time members have had good claims experience with Progressive.  I'd glad I haven't had to test them yet.

We use Pemco here in Washington for everything, We have an '84 Itaska now in Seaside with my son cost $360 full coverage.  We got our LD in April and full coverage is $420 includes tow.  We had a NW Fir Tree in March take out our carport and three cars (one not ours).  Our policy renews in November so we will see what happens with costs.

                  We traded our carport for a 98 26.5 MB and I think that's been Totally Worth it!

State Farm, in Ohio... $175 per year.  Low deductibles, too.  We have home, life, boat, scooter, and a total of 6 cars/trucks including the 2000 FL LD with them.

My brother in law owns a autobody repair shop.   I asked him -- in Oregon Progressive is one of the easier companies to work with.    Not all, in fact few autobody repair shops know or have the equipment to work with aluminum.    In any case I pay about $700 a year for full coverage.   Never had a claim or ticket, live in Portland.   Insurance will be higher just because of location.

Thanks for that heads-up! We too have everything together, and an umbrella, so any changes wil definitely spark careful review!

I thought I would throw this out there for those that might wonder how rates are determined and why they vary state to state.

When I worked in the biz the thing that I hated to see were those folks that were over insured and underinsured. The over insured aspect really was for people that carried collision and comprehensive coverage with low deductibles on a car that was barely worth what the premium cost and the shock to them when they learned what their vehicle was worth. Of course, the question is always, what amount of risk are you comfortable with.

The under insured was for folks that carried too little liability coverage. You can be in for a nasty surprise if you have attachable assets and cause serious bodily/property damage.

Another State Farm customer here.  A few years ago we let some friends take out pre-LD-SOB on a weekend trip.  They ended up hitting a construction barrier and did about $3000 damage.  State Farm never batted an eye and paid out without any grief.  (I know, I could have had them put it on their insurance.  Without going into long details, this was the easiest way to go.)  They also didn't raise our rates.

Actually you couldn't have them put it on their insurance. Your policy is primary to cover a permissive driver. Another reason to be careful who you allow to drive your vehicles.

We are with SF, the same as Paul.  Found it best to bundle all with SF.
