water leak help
hi friends


i’m sure i could have searched the forum more than i did for assistance but i unfortunately know so little of the appropriate plumbing terms to really even search what i need.

i have a 2002 26.5 mid bath. i noticed some water pooling in one of my exterior compartments. the compartment is  located on the drivers side, just below my fridge. it looks like it’s coming from this 1 in PVC drain line. and when i say from it, i mean there water trickling down the visible exterior of the piping. everything is dry inside and it seems to be originating just above what i can see from inside the storage compartment.

i do have access where im staying to a plumber friend who can help with a repair. i guess my question first is should we stop where we’re at and get an RV tech on the case ? is it possible to get up under the plywood ceiling in this storage compartment to access the piping ? or is this a matter of moving the fridge or stove in the kitchen to access the line from the inside ?

i can include more pictures or information as needed !

The pipe and ball valve shown is the freshwater drain.
If water is coming out of the pipe, the valve is leaking, and if running is down the outside of the drain pipe, you have bigger problems.
It's most likely a failing valve, an easy fix.

Another possibility could be leakage from where the drain pipe is attached to the fresh water tank. If this were me, I would do an inspection of the area where the tank resides. Visual access be gained by removing a few screws that attach the wallboards inside the cabinet below the fridge. I would also remove the two galley drawers and inspect with a flashlight.

Victoria, As Larry mentioned, the leak is probably from the valve which is a cheap and relatively easy fix. Here's your photo: If the leak is below this arrow, it's the valve or the threaded ends of the valve.

You can find these valves at any hardware store. Here's one from Home Depot. ball valve

If that's a drop of water running down the top of that fitting, that's a different problem.

I would like to offer a couple suggestions that might be an easier fix than replacing the water tank valve or looking for a leak at the fresh water tank. I have experienced two such "leaks" in that compartment that had nothing to do with the fresh water tank or the drain valve. (We have a similar Floorplan, a 2003 Midbath)

The first time that I had water dripping down that pipe it turned out to be a leak at the fresh water pump, the strainer had a cracked fitting. The water flowed towards the front of the Lazy Daze under the cabinets where the fresh water tank is located and then leaked through the hole for that drain pipe. A new water pump and strainer were installed.

The next time I had water dripping in that area it was from a leaking gallon of water we had stored under the sink. We carry gallons of drinking water there and one jug developed a small leak. Again water flowed towards the front and down that drain pipe.

I was relieved that my water leak was NOT a leaking fresh water tank. I hope your problem is as easily solved as mine were.
