Slight Hesitation
Hi we are on the road from California and in Wisconsin now heading to Rockford IL.  We noticed some intermittent slight engine hesitation.   There is no check engine light and all the gauges are normal.   I know this is hard to diagnose on the forum.  Anyone know of any repair shops from Madison to Rockford?    Our mileage is 209,316...

You might have a look at the spark plugs.
Your vintage LD was when they had issues.

Hi Joansie; your rig has the same V10 that my '99 Ford T/K has. At your 209k miles almost anything could be wrong.
I travel with a Scangauge and I can ask it if there are things like misfires, that don't set a 'check engine light', until it gets really bad and persists for a while. Other clues like water temperature and gas mileage are displayed better than the gauges show. That can also provide hints about what could be happening.  RonB.

If our V10 did this, I would check the check the following.
The fuel injection pressure regulator is my primary suspect.
It increases fuel pressure when accelerating or under heavy load.
The O2 sensors should checked along with Mass Airflow Sensor(MAF).
All of the above require specialized test equipment and someone that understands what the data means.

Update:  we went to Batitta Bros in Beloit, Wi and got new spark plugs, coil boots and air filter.  We planned to do it when we got back.  It is running fine now.

Thanks for all the replies.

Joansie,
We have a Blue 98~MB with 150K+.
Since we got ours in it's 70Ks we re-torque our spark plugs every 20K to guard against possible "blown out Spark Plug".
We have done most maintenance in advance of it's possible failure point including changing out our working in-tank fuel pump at 130K.  Unfortunately the new pump failed 10K later causing us to miss the total solar eclipse somewhere in Texas.
You can only plan so much!
