Has anyone installed a Furrion S+ review camera system (rear view and side view cameras) as a replacement to the factory installed rear view camera on a 2015 era 27 MB.
Furrion advertises this system as an easy installed on a RV prewired for the system, which many apparently are. However, the pigtail on the camera looks to be too short to reach into the rig, so any connection would need to accomplished outside the rig. I'd be happier if any splicing I'd need to accomplish occurred inside the rig.
Thanks
Geoff
Hi Geoff; That Furrion S+ evidently just uses that pigtail lead for power, and when to 'turn on' enable. The Etrailer person mentioned the marker lights as a source. The RF link at 2.4 Ghz transfers the actual video to the monitor in front. Both have short antennas, and they mention the range limits. 200-400' would work even if the camera(s) were mounted on a trailer, etc. So water proofness shouldn't be much of an issue. I don't think that transfer by 'SD card' would be feasible. But then you could just move the dash monitor around at night. (need a power cord) Likely you can leave the camera on 24/7 while in the rig.
I do have the LD factory installed rear view camera. (1999) Poor resolution, black and white with no audio. But the wiring is inside the compartment floor that your MidBath also should have. This is at the very back above the window. The floor had been removed, and staples replaced with screws. So you can do that also. A small hole right in the center for the camera power. (I put in a light fixture, so I ran that wire alongside the video harness that LD put in), into the side compartment, and on. You could put in a switch to enable it for security purposes. I would use the reverse light to enable it, or the accessory with the engine running, etc. RonB
This doesn't answer your question but I would recommend the wired rear view mirror type. You can mount it over your factory mirror or replace the factory mirror. It gives you an excellent color view and records both rear and front. Incredibly, it eliminates the blind spot. I don't know how that cheap little camera does it but a car overtaking you on either side stays visible beyond the blind spot. I liked it so much on the LD I installed the same on both my cars.
Mine are Wolfbox but there are others as well. They are around a hundred to four hundred or so. wolfbox (https://www.amazon.com/WOLFBOX-G900-PRO-OEM-Bracket/dp/B0DFYGP22P/ref=sr_1_10?crid=308TCM66KNM6N&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.X-VHUWwBmtAZdqrTKA4M8TIuoMlpB_J7CxU7umqymqq8F8jPhI6dg97znqvTDw1w5p-9t1Eoqs0zhZ_jkHYiyvqUma0S-7OFmDSofWtxjeWWI3hS7wQLDajNPifnKcxKNA9jfB23O8lBNLx6s1CcfWFozg-mj0R7zSKBkxMtHS7GbKBsQve5qFS17rZpKR03YpUGbIwKO1nEc-J3wSZ37nzDS7j0vd6XAjTLQl4Wvsk.iItxslHIKhwDrFe6enIhGqMnSZwCuJo-Y2xfb3a2GpE&dib_tag=se&keywords=wolfbox+g900+pro&qid=1764772100&sprefix=wolfbox%2Caps%2C218&sr=8-10)
