I dropped a rear wheel simulator somewhere in southern Ohio. I opted for the bolt on this time. The snap ons lasted 14 years. Guess I cant complain. Now I have a rear and two fronts of the snap on style. If anyone loses one let me know.

Hi CJC; Welcome to the group! (unless you intended the avatar to be sideways I'd feel better to have your LD upright instead of on it's side). The front wheel simulators should go on either side.
The Companion 'speaks' to the older style of wheel simulator attachment that I have. It would be hard to just lose a cover, unless both hold on nuts were to loosen at the same time. I try to remember to check mine for tightness every few months (years?). When I get new tires I take the covers off for safe keeping, and I am careful to reinstall the nuts properly, unlike possibly some random tire changing person.
It seems that lost wheel simulators became more of a problem when Ford changed the length of the Lugs on the wheels circa 2003. That required an extender to the two lugs that hold down the simulator. An even more complicated system that I'm sure frustrated more tire changing moments than before.
The newest version seems to be a snapped on cover with a friction fit. "What could possibly go wrong with that decision!" I'm not sure how I would fix that problem, but I have a zip tie tool with stainless steel ties that could go through adjacent holes, without being too obvious about it. On the road for an unplanned tire change, plastic zip ties could be used to reattach the covers. They have zip ties in chrome color also. So the friction fit wheel covers don't have a real nut (two) on the hub to make sure that they stay on the motorhome? I actually haven't had to deal with this topic in the past. Maybe someone could clarify this for me.

The later friction wheel covers can pop off during hard cornering, especially the front covers, when the wheels flex.
The friction covers were a less expensive substitute for the bolt on chrome wheel covers as LD tried to keep costs down. Securing the covers is a good idea. Zip ties are cheap.

I tried and was unsuccessful in turning my photo 90 degrees
