Title: Bathroom Faucet Repair
Post by: DesertDust (Bill) on October 12, 2025, 06:52:03 pm
Finished overhauling the toilet - works great!   but now I find I have a drip on the bathroom faucet.  Took the knob off intending to take out the cartridge, but I cant figure out how to do it - doesn't look like any I've seen before..  Anyone have some wisdom here?  No maker's markings that I can see...
Thought about just replacing it but it'll be heck getting to the nuts under the counter.....

In case the faucet still leaks, replacement faucets that fit are widely available at any hardware store.
Removing the old faucet can be tough; LD glued it down with their usual polyurethane adhesive.
If removing, apply several layers of tape around the perimeter of the old faucet to prevent damage during removal. I use masking tape and a 1" puddy knife with a sharp edge to get under the base of the faucet to cut the adhesive away.

The connections under the sink are a pain to get to but they usually come loose without to much effort.

Have fun
Larry

Well I got the faucet cartridge out easy enough, it looked perfectly clean but I soaked it in Line-Away anyway.  A very slight improvement but its easy to see the 30 year old seals are toast.  Guess I'll be looking for a new faucet.  Pity we don't know who made it to see if a new cartridge can be had.

Well I'll be...   when I bought the LD I got a file box that the previous owner said "has all the paperwork"
They were not kidding...

unfortunately, it doesn't cover the single-handle faucet in my bathroom.

Hi DesertDust;  I don't know if you need the shower diverter portion of the valve, but they are still available. This is one such: https://www.etrailer.com/RV-Faucets/LaSalle-Bristol/34420373W21.html?feed=npn&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21691392423&gbraid=0AAAAAD_vMtlZs7QVDmRGk4j1h96eItyuP&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6bfHBhDNARIsAIGsqLjKkDwpUAXyw3oPC-mW47Isnoa8Cybw4zvSa-sIhMXs1on0vdlW7NMaAt35EALw_wcB
Spacing between the valves to fit the holes in your sink need to match.  They might have replacement valve bodies also, and washer replacement kits.  The ad for the Lasalle Bristol mentions the 'Utopia' name.   RonB

Trying to find parts for antique RVs can be a challenge, the faucet was an inexpensive to begin with and may not have had replacement parts ever available. Few parts from that era are still available, forcing us to update to modern parts, sometimes requiring major modications.
For example, todasay’s propane regulators  are dimentionally different, requiring changing the plumbing..
The good news is replacement faucets are widley available.

Broke down and replaced the faucet set with one from Walmart - $15.00

I could NOT get the nuts that held the original faucet on loose.  I ended up using a cutting disk on my dremel to chop it up until it all came out.  A heatgun and spatula got all the old sealant off.   new one dropped it and connected up perfectly.
One thing though, manufacturing dust clogged up the nozzle almost immediately, had to remove and clean it.
