No leather involved with the seating. Pleather, a polyurethane simulation of leather was the upscale choice. (With multiple cats, the woven fabric upholstery was the only workable covering for me.) RonB
Ron, we have the “pleather” seats and multiple cats as well. We found these seat covers to be a good solution.
Hi Greg; Well, I bet if you remove the covers and look at your seats, you'll find that their claws do go through the fabric and leave 'pinprick' marks in the ultraleather. If you are happy with the covers, great! because you will have to leave them on.
My high quality, real leather seats at home are distinctly roughed up! RonB

Ron, I went out and did a cursory check under the seat covers and didn’t notice any damage. Please note that they are rather thick which provides some protection from claws. Also, we do carry a cat scratcher with us when we travel with the cats. If I ever take the seat covers all the way off, I’ll do a better inspection and let you know.
Hi Greg; Don't go to any trouble! I'm not planning on changing my fabric seat covers, and if I did, I'd get the same thing I have now. This will do well for me until I don't need seat covers. RonB
