Title: A/C trouble
Post by: tedeboy on July 18, 2025, 11:58:46 am
5 months out of warranty my the Lazy Daze started having air conditioning issues.

Since the fall of 2024 I've paid dealers $1,500 total and it's still not fixed.

Now one of the questions Ford is asking me is if I've bought any new Fords in my life. 🤷🤷

It's back at the dealer's right now and they said the compressor has gone bad.

This is a horrible position to be in. I have to be nice.

🤬🤬

If you don't get satisfaction at Kearny Mesa Ford, you may want to check with Rush Truck Center on Miramar Rd.  I believe they are an authorized Ford service center (double check this).  Good luck!

AC issues plagued me shortly after I brought our RB home from completion at the Mothership. It all started during our second or third trip out.

Living just south of LA in So Cal so had to travel the 405 through some very rough freeway miles through LA. Only a few miles past LA the AC started blowing warm air. It remained unusable throughout our trip to Yosemite.

I took the rig to Caruso Ford in Long Beach. After a couple of attempts for repair they said it would cost me $1500 for a new ac pump etc. When I informed them that the vehicle was under warranty they soon found the problem (how convenient) and I was soon back behind the wheel and the AC hasn’t acted up since (nearly 10 years later).

I had always wondered if the rough LA freeway had rattled something loose. I’ve since then driven the same route dozens of times. Heading back that way soon. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Best of luck with your AC.

You may try to find a shop that specializes in air conditioning to determine the cause. Ford will do anything to avoid a warranty claim, as most dealers do.

Thanks Larry they gave me an estimate of $1,800 and they're willing to replace the compressor with my share being $650.

I called around and I'm not going to get that price anywhere.

Now I need to work with a Ford corporate for the bill I incurred in Washington, if they can help with that.
