I've been researching and trying to learn all about towing and tow dollies and I thought I had found one that would work for my set-up but now I'm not sure. I have a 2006 26.5 rear kitchen Lazy Daze and 2012 Honda Accord LX automatic 4 door 4 cylinder sedan. I've read the LD manual where it states the receiver hitch has a maximum of 350 lbs tongue weight and the receiver hitch has a maximum straight pull of 4,000 lbs.
I'm looking at a used Demco Kar Kaddy SS. I thought everything fell within the requirements of my receiving hitch and weight limitations. See below. But then I was reading the tow dolly's manual and it mentions "Towing vehicle must have as a minimum a Class 3-5,000 lb.(for non-brake units) or a Class 4-6,000 lb.(for brake units) hitch and hitch ball. Do not use any other size hitch ball." Am I understanding this correctly that since the LD hitch has a straight pull of 4000 lbs, it does not satisfy Demco's requirement I just listed? Ugh, I thought I had this all sorted out and now I'm not sure.
my Honda accord curb weight 3,279 lbs + 675 lbs total dolly weight = 3,954 so right at the 4k limit
Kar Kaddy SS dolly tongue weight when loaded = <100 lbs (per Demco's website --> so I'm good on that requirement
Any insight is greatly appreciated! (ps. it looks like many LD owners go the flat towing route but unfortunately I'm not in the position right now to get a vehicle that can be flat towed, so I'm just trying to work with my Honda for the time being).

I’d look into it. The tow dolly has some drawbacks including the extra weight and the need to store the dolly anywhere you end up.

Interesting, since the 2012 Accord is not on the dinghy towing guide list:

From the 2012 Honda Accord Owners Manual (page 332);
Your vehicle is not designed to be
towed behind a motor home.

Hi Bill, That comment by Honda in their user manual is mostly there to release them from claims for damage that might occur to the car's transmission while being towed, without following the proper procedures to prepare it, for being towed.
As far as I know, many people successfully tow Hondas from that model year. (2010)
The procedure involves running the car engine, shifting the selector through a specific sequence, then towing.
Other persons here will need to relate their experiences. A tow dolly is really a nightmare as far as most people I've heard tell it. RonB
