Title: rear wheel access shroud cover nut
Post by: colddog on June 23, 2025, 11:31:41 am
Well it finally happened.  It seems I lost one of the nuts that was used to tighten down the rear wheel access shroud.

Question is the anybody that knows of a place that sells replacement cover nuts?

Thanks for any help in this matter.

Somebody check me on this, but I seem to remember that those nuts were 1/4-20 acorn nuts. In that case, you can get replacements from McMaster-Carr (https://www.mcmaster.com/products/acorn-nuts/thread-size~1-4-20/) (or probably most hardware stores).

I think he means the shroud over the dually wheels.
If so, I'd take one to Ace hardware, they should be able to fix you up.

Search for 'Star Knob Thumb Nuts'.

My local hardware store has an assortment of sizes in the nuts and bolts section.

The replacement won't come painted like the one you lost, but it shouldn't be hard to find a replacement.

Oh, sorry, I was thinking of the nuts that secure the rear spare-tire cover. For the wheel skirts, try these:

McMaster-Carr (https://www.mcmaster.com/products/knobs/knobs-1~/mount-type~threaded-hole-1/choose-a-color-threaded-hole-knobs/)

I just bought two (2) as spares from Todd.  I’m guessing he has more.  Hope this helps.

Are the 2014's still Kaper?

Jesse at  LED | Washington | Kaper II - HOME (https://www.kaperii.com/)  took care of me for my 2000.
