Title: Replacing water pump
Post by: Bob Wilson on May 14, 2025, 07:11:08 pm
I have a 2007 LD  31 foot with water pump under queen bed for easy access.  Going to replace with a new one
Any suggestions to control water in line after shut off and removing pump.  Thanks

Hello Bob.   I simply drained the water tank, then ran the pump for a short time with the kitchen faucet open.  I used a towel to catch the small remaining water that dribbled out.  Hope this helps.

Bob, while you have the water pump out, you might want to install an isolation valve to help facilitate future repairs. More info here:

I installed two isolation valves, one on either side of the water pump. My reasoning is that the pump is most likely to die at the most inconvenient time, when we're boon docking without easy access to water to refill, so I want to preserve all the water on board during the pump change out. Closing the two valves minimizes water loss, and the minimizes the number of towels needed to absorb the un-drained water.
