Title: General repairs needed in/near Garden Grove, CA
Post by: Mema on May 12, 2025, 09:05:41 pm
Hello ,  my sister and I bought a 1993, 26 foot mid bath.  We do most of the little repairs ourselves.  Is there anybody that knows anybody that we can have some work done ?  Or at least looked at and advise?  We live in Garden Grove Ca. But willing to travel to get a few estimates.  We have the driver side running board coming apart. And water heater not staying lit.    Thanks in advance for any recommendations!  MeMa and Yaya

Hi,
I had the drivers side running board also coming loose. Turns out the wood underneath was rotten. Went to a welder and had him reinforce both sides. He welded a support from the center frame to the underside of the step. You could hold a party on that step now! Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for that info! Still trying to figure out what to do!  Just read somewhere, they took theirs to Premiere Motorcouch in Orange Co. cost $2000 to have it repaired 😬. That was for only one step.  Just wondering what you paid?
My son is a Mobile mechanic. Works on mostly big equipment and tractor trailers. But he lives in Oregon. Was planning a trip there in the end of August. Going to ask if he could do something what you did? Just hoping it won’t fall off before that . On on the way.  Could you be able to take photos of what they welded?  Sorry for the long text. If you can’t I totally understand!  Really appreciate the info!  Mema

Hi BlueBird Bob;  I also had a rotten piece of wood cause a failure of the rear attachment point on the driver side step (running board). The heaviest passenger with the most frequent exits and entries.(me)  I fixed that side pretty well, but now the passenger side is also having a problem.  The factory didn't provide a way for trapped water to drain out of a small niche. My driveway, at a moderate angle, caused water to sit at the mounting location until it had an opportunity to soak in.
Sorry that I didn't take more photos, I do have a few photos (they are here somewhere...) I would like to see how your situation was solved, if you have any photos.      RonB

edited, added two photos. Cost was about $30, and my labor.

I temporarily repaired a loose running board by bending two sheet metal brackets and screwing them to the bottom of the cab, with self-tapping sheet metals screws, and screwing the other end under the running boards, where i found good wood. This provided good support until a permanent fiberglass repair was made.

MEMA,
I'm in Westminster and can advise you but don't  have a lot of time to repair things these days.    Do you store the rig at home?  PM me if you would like to continue.

Ramon, Thank You!  Our rig is parked at a friends house for now.  My sister is out off town for a few days. When she gets back, I will talk with her and maybe we can meet up somewhere to check it out?   I will definitely keep in touch. Appreciate the feedback of any kind. Mema
