We are going to replace our seal on our Sealand Traveler #511 and the Dometic 385314349 Toilet Water Valve Assembly in our 98~MB. There are many versions available on Amazon. Has anyone ordered from amazon or somewhere, installed them and had good working success? The valve I think is original, we did replace the seal around 2019. We might buy two seals to have an extra. The WC now is only holding water in the bowl for about ten hours but that will diminish with more use. We definitely will have to change out the valve sooner.
Thank You for all Your Help!

When it comes to the toilet seal, I use only the Factory kit. Most of the seal kits have two rubber rings, the Factory kit has a plastic and a rubber ring. The plastic ring rides against the ball.
In my experience, the cheap kits do not last long before they start leaking again. Make sure the ball isn’t badly scratched.
Since the majority of the toilets I have rebuilt were paid jobs, I always used Factory parts to eliminate comebacks. There is no way to know the quality of Chinese replacement parts.
It’s a pay me now or pay me later situation, your choice.
Replace the vacuum breaker while you have the toilet disassembled; they go bad, too.

I also replace everything each time I have it apart (every 10 years or so).
I don't want a broken toilet on a trip and I don't want to do the job twice.
Whatever I save by DIY goes into parts, but I think I spend less time messing with it over the long haul.
When I look a new RV's, I never want to trade their cheaper toilets for the one I have.
Rich
I'm glad that Rich mentioned this. The new toilets are built cheaper, and don't seem to work as well or last as long. I didn't have to repair mine until about 22 years. The new toilets only have two screws at the base unlike the four on the base of my 510.
I used parts from Amazon, the 'not cheapest' but close to it. Failures I have seen are the seal on the manifold breaker mounted in the back. I can now change it out without having to remove the toilet. The first time I had the toilet out. I had the most problems with the PEX 'A' fitting going to the water valve. The older PB (polyButylene) might be even worse. The PEX 'B' may what most of the newer Lazy Daze's have now.
Liam, you might have the PEX 'A' stuff also. I made changes to my water pump output manifold to add in a valve and 'T' then, and most of the problem was with that. The T/K had very hard to get to fittings on the toilet because of the shower pan just being inches away. You may be spared that because of the pedestal and shorter toilet base.
My repairs were recent enough that I haven't had a true test of the longevity of parts I used. RonB
Thank You Larry and Rich for the info. I really only want to do this one last time now! On Amazon there is a Dometic "385311462 Rubber Toilet Seal Kit in Black | 2001 Toilets & Newer" but I think that kit is for the 2001 and later units. Has anyone used that one for a earlier model? We did this job in 2019 with a Dometic OEM kit which only included the one rubber seal and here we are six years later thinking about another replacement. On line I have found two kits, one that has a cut out slot at the 2:30 position - 385311462 and another one with that same cut out in the same spot but additionally has a hole at the 10:00 position - 385316140. Apparently this one with the additional hole in it may be for our older unit 1998 511? Has any one replaced the seal with the additional hole in it? Does anyone know the part numbers? I can not find this Dometic Kit OEM with the hole on Amazon so I have to get it elsewhere. There are many on Amazon that do have the hole but are copies. I can get the one with the hole delivered from Home depot, so maybe I will order both and return the one that is wrong. We changes the plumbing lines from the wall to the toilet last time but I will look at the vacuum breaker and probably replace it. Ron do you remember any part numbers for that vacuum breaker you replaced? We may change the vinyl on the bathroom toilet hump with the same vinyl as we put on the floor a few years ago so that would be the time to change the seals etc.

The hole in the seal is for the overflow.
Since the ring is soft rubber, a new hole can be cut or punched, allowing the use of an OEM seal kit.
An inexpensive hole punch will produce a clean hole.

Hi Liam; I'm pretty sure this is the one I ordered from Amazon. (it has timed out for direct confirmation).
The key line is '500 series toilets. Since I had it all apart at the time I think I beveled the pipe resting against the china bowl, so it would fit better. (push in just a bit more). I had clearance issues behind the toilet with the wall.
Choice was with or without the hand spray nozzle. I have that so I got the corresponding part with that 'T'. RonB

Thanks Ron! I have got to go and check out what will fit in my 98~MB setup. I had the vacuum breaker in our old itaska crack due to some water freezing in it one time when we were winter camping. That WC was a dometic but had a plastic bowl and when we discovered it we were in a place where we could not get parts for a while. Fortunately that WC was a direct flush into the five gallon black tank so we poured enough water each time for each flush. We also left the door open to the bathroom to make sure it stayed warm enough and no freeze-ups after that!

I suppose you have enough information by now, but... here's the one I ordered...
This is the one I got for my 1997 LD replacement seal and it works perfectly:
Amazon.com: Dometic 385316140 Base to Bowl Seal Kit - EcoVac 157/158/159,... (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001HC4VA0?ref_=ppx_hzod_title_dt_b_fed_asin_title_0_0)
It is Sealand 385316140 Teflon to Rubber Seal Kit... but I see it's now, still the same price as in 2013.
I also replaced the floor seal at the same time.
Kristin in Alaska
Thank You Kristen, I have ordered one with the holes which should work just fine. If that set does not work I will try your listing.
