Title: Velvac model 2025 mirrors
Post by: Baby Blue on April 17, 2025, 05:44:04 pm
Even after tightening the adjustment hex bolt (so tight I cracked the handle on my hex wrench) the mirror arm still won't stay all the way out where it belongs when I am driving (wind pressure will move it). I have a 1997 LD if that makes any difference. Any body have a suggestion for solving this?

Hi Baby Blue, Welcome to the Forum. We hope we can help you. A lot depends on what type of mirrors you have. Your year '97 or '98 should be the same as my '99 T/K.
Two of my cars fold up the mirrors several times a day when locked. But the motorhome mirrors were only built to fold up if you hit a pedestrian. It's handy to fold up if you hit a pole too, but they are not intended to fold more than a few times. I'm going to guess that the 'set' screws have worn a groove deep enough that they can't go any deeper to contact the non rotating post. If you can, maybe find a similar set screw(s) but just a bit longer and see if that helps.
Once in a while walking past my rig I hit my mirrors and they both are still fixed very firmly in place.
RonB.
