Title: 1989 Lazy Daze 26.5 Roof Covers Refresh
Post by: Margo S on February 10, 2025, 07:00:23 pm
Hi all, we will be following the advice within to reseal the roofing seams with the Eternabond method this weekend.  Thanks for documenting this process so completely.

However, I am stumped on how to locate or best replace/repair the other roofing covers that have been degraded in the California sun since '89.  Much of the advice was to contact the LD mothership, but alas they are no longer with us.  We have been keeping this tarped, but we know from our last trip, and obvious in photos, that the different roof covers need major help.  Photos provided.

Any advice or ideas?  Excited to get this old beauty ready for the summer.

Best,
Margo

Your roof seam looks original, it's time to update it. I would cut all the old sealant away, after 35 years, it cannot be in good condition.
The front escape hatch's plastic cover should be replaceable.
The evaporative cooler is history, I would remove it and replace it with a standard 14" X 14" vent with a 12 volt fan.

One of the exciting activities of owning an antique RV is hunting replacements for obsolete parts, this includes trying to find a usable cover for the roof A/C.
Get the make and model off the A/C's specification plate and Google it.
You may get lucky.

Thanks for the info!  Excited to start the adventure locating these items. I'll post here later with the parts that I find that work... hoping I do!
