Title: Roller Shade Installation
Post by: HiLola on February 07, 2025, 01:59:57 pm
Does anyone have any experience with installing the factory roller shades in the later models? One of the rear window roller shades fell during recent travels and I’m not quite sure how to reinstall it. Do they just pop back into the brackets or do the brackets need to be removed to reinstall?

I just looked through the Lazy Daze brochures and couldn’t find one for the roller shades. The Factory manual does mention the operation of them but that’s it. Does anyone recall who the manufacturer is?

I believe MCD makes them.

That looks like it.  On the way home from pickup, I left one down and it fell off.   Vince shipped a new one and his 'special installation tool' to facilitate installation.   That tool was basically a 1/4" socket that was taper-ground so it didn't hang up in the close quarters.
I ordered a replacement unit a few years ago directly ( can't find the paperwork at the moment).  When I ordered it, I didn't notice there were two ways the shades could be mounted ('C' and 'O' in the order form).   Wanted 'O', got 'C', removed and reinstalled one to get it right.

Attached is the order from from the link Larry provided.

Greg,
Also pay attention how to set the shade spring tension adjustment before installing in that very tight spot.  In my rear bath the valence around the window frame makes it difficult to access the shade mounts and I had to loosen the valence to make more room at the top. It's not a fun job.

I was able to get the shade reinstalled with help from my better half. Removing the corner valances allowed access to the two end tabs (there were four total) that hold the roller assembly up. After removing the assembly, I noticed that the black brackets that hold the actual shades seemed to be slightly tweaked so they were removed and bent back in a vise, then reinstalled into the rail. Then the assembly was reinstalled.  This is where a second pair of hands is essential to pop the assembly back into the four brackets.

Unfortunately, now it seems the external adjustment wheels for the shades speed and height aren’t doing anything so the shades need to manually guided when opening. No big deal.
