Title: Fender Flap Trim
Post by: jor on September 22, 2024, 02:57:44 pm
I'd like to replace the vinyl trim on the rear fender flaps as mine are looking kind of grubby. Anyone have a source for the same size (haven't talked to Todd yet)? I added some to the inside of the flap to protect my back while working in there when the flap is not held up with a rod or whatever. I ordered what I thought was the right size (Amazon photo) but it was difficult to get on, not as wide as the OEM and as you can see in the photo, I could not get it to lay flat across the entire run. Fine for my purpose as it is out of sight but won't do for the visible flap edges. Thanks.

Hi JOR; Looks pretty much OK to me. I'd try a rubber mallet to seat it better on the edge. Would reduce that waviness.
To hold that flap (partial tire cover) up I built in aluminum props. Useful also if I ever needed the snow cables on the tires.  The prop can be installed horizontally to keep the cover about 4" out (with bungee cord). Away from the tire vicinity.  RonB

Ingenious flap holder you got there, Ron. Re the trim, I probably confused my question with the wavy comment. That is the trim I put on to keep the inside edge from rubbing on my back if I don't block up the flap. I'm asking about the outside trim. I'll contact Todd and see what he's got on hand. Thanks.

Ended up just cleaning up the vinyl flap trim. I think most of the discoloration came from the Rejex that I use to polish the paint. Anyhow, I cleaned them with Dove and applied Aerospace 303 which I use for any rubber or vinyl (e.g. window gaskets). We'll see how long it lasts. I usually do the windows every two or three months.

Todd told me he doesn't have any of the stuff but the source is Trim-Lok. (trim-lok (https://www.trimlok.com/))

Trim-Lok also makes the trim used around the faux spare tire cover.
