I just received an email from Dish which in part said “We wanted to let you know that the satellite previously connected to your DISH Outdoors equipment was decommissioned on July 20th, 2023. As a result, if you haven't activated your receiver (Wally, VIP211k, or VIP211z) since that date, you may need to follow the steps below to scan for the appropriate satellites … “
I called Dish to ask for further clarification and they said that our factory installed satellite dish will no longer work. The 211 receiver is fine. We haven’t used our satellite for several years because most of our camping is in the trees. I’m going to test it sometime to verify it’s not working. Sadly, if the Dish information is correct, we’ll be carrying around a dead satellite 📡 on our roof.
There is always streaming on a StarLink to fill in for the obsolete dish and it probably does not use any more power than the Dish did. Trees can still be a problem.

Did they tell you if any newer model roof mounted dish antenna would?

I didn’t ask since we haven’t used RV satellite tv in recent years. Nevertheless, I’m sure the newer antennas will work just fine if not better.
Follow Up: Since we have clear skies to the southwest, I decided to test our OEM satellite dish for the first time since our original post. Bottom line, we still have excellent satellite reception. How, why etc., I don’t know 🤷 or understand!
While we don’t often have clear skies (no trees), it’s still very satisfying to know we’re not carrying around a satellite dish that doesn’t work.
