Title: Honda CR-V charge line
Post by: tedeboy on May 11, 2024, 12:06:02 pm
Our 2002 Honda CRV is getting tired and we're looking for another tow vehicle.

When considering the newer Honda CRVs (up to the year 2014 of course) do they also need a battery charge line installed?

I ran one for our 2002 to keep the battery charged while towing.

Our 2012 Honda CRV also required a charge line.  We gave that vehicle to our son and now tow a 2013 Kia Soul which also has the charge line.  Hope that helps.

You can get away with a few hours of towing without one, but for multiple days or long days, you will want one.

We have a 2014 CR-V.   The small engine battery is one of the common complaints owers have about it, regardless of if it's towed.

I was hoping they would beef up the battery but I guess they didn't.

2011 CRV had a charge line when SMI Stay-in-play installed.
Then it stopped working.  I didn't need it, as long as I had a jump-starter and trickle charger handy.
Then I found a hidden fuse blown.   Jump-starter and trickle charger under seat in tow'd.
