Title: Rain Gutters
Post by: Mindispower on April 19, 2024, 11:26:09 pm
I wonder how these have worked if you have installed them. (Self Adhesive type). Where I live, our Summers will reach as much as 115 deg, but probably averages around 95-100 deg. My fear is they will not withstand even one of our Summers. Thank you.

"I wonder how these have worked if you have installed them."

What are you asking? "These" is not much of a description to go on!   ::)

I believe that “these” refers to rain gutters.

I believe that “these” refers to rain gutters.
No doubt that’s the reference.   But without knowing who makes the gutters or what kind of tape is being used, it’s impossible to know whether they would holdup in high (115+) heat, many adhesives don’t.

The gutter strips, the type that comes in a roll will stick to a well-prepared surface but will eventually off as the adhesive fails.
It usually comes off first where it makes bends around the front or rear side windows.
The few gutters I installed were not guaranteed, I didn’t trust the adhesive. One rig had been treated with some kind of “special” silicone coating to which nothing would stick including Eternabond tape. What a mess and very frustrating for the owner and myself.

More years ago than I can remember I purchased a roll of peel-off/stick-on vinyl RV gutter material. The rig is now 19 years old and most of the original gutters are still in place. I did have one small length that came loose but I replaced that and all's well now. I only trusted the 3M brand of adhesive and it will stick and hold if the surface is properly prepared beforehand.

Do not expect these gutters to carry away a deluge of rain water, they will quickly be overcome! They are best at keeping light rain and condensate to drain off at the ends and particularly well adapted in reducing black streaks on the side walls of the coach!
