Title: Wave Heaters
Post by: HiLola on January 31, 2024, 07:50:21 pm
Looking at purchasing a Wave Heater but can't decide between the 3 and 6 models.  What are your experiences in a 27' Mid-Bath?
Thanks!

As these are radiant heaters, they heat up whatever they point at - not the air. The air around picks up heat from the radiant-heated objects, couch, cabinets, etc. For the space of a midbath, two wave 3 units will work better than one wave 6. Or, decide where you will mostly need the heat and use one wave 3 in that location. We have ours in the lounge area but on a 6' hose and feet, so we can position it to face other areas in our FL. Our Olympian 2800 is about 30 yrs old and still working fine.

A Wave 6 generates so much infrared heat that it must have several feet of clearance. It's too hard to get away from for most owners
Mid-Bath owners usually prefer a single Wave 3 using a 5- 6' hose and a quick-disconnect outlet/valve mounted under the stove. This arrangement allows the heater to be used in the dinette area, aimed into the bath, or pointed toward the rear lounge. In warmer weather, the hose can be disconnected and the heater stowed away.
Catalytic heaters are best used as area heaters, not being big enough to heat the whole rig in cold weather
In very cold weather, we will leave our cat heater on all day to keep the rig from freezing up, it doesn't use that much propane.

The easiest way to access the propane supply is to remove the stove and connect to the stove's supply line.

Larry is right about the Wave 6 heater, we first bought one of those but had to run at on the lowest setting to keep it in our main front dining and sitting area in our 98~MB.  We have since gotten a wave 3 which is better and can move between the front room or rear lounge.  It is kind of like having the heat and feel off a fireplace with the red glow.
