Lazy Daze Companion access issue, looks to be a general problem as others have reported it.
Hi Dave; Don Malpas was censored (but not 'kicked out') after a complaint about one of his postings.
So possibly he has removed the Companion from easy access by LDOG members. Much of the Companion came from contributions of other members here anyway. Possibly individual members may obtain access by e-mailing him. RonB
It is somewhat disappointing to see squabbles here. Many people have contributed to the Companion, as Ron stated. Don appears to be the contributor who recently has invested the most time on it, including curating the content of others. I have high regard for him for that service to the community.
When someone posts something that doesn’t interest me, or that doesn’t resonate with me, I move on to the next item, and don’t take offense. I don’t see what the fuss is about. If being an old codger is a punishable offense, an awful lot of us might be in jeopardy.

When members report posts, as was the case here, the moderators review the situation. Posts found to be in violation of forum rules are removed and the poster is notified of what was wrong. It's not something the mods take lightly or enjoy doing, but it's what keeps forums like LDO a place with positive member interactions and useful information.
I lost access to the blog also, not sure why. I was able to visit it before.

Same here... is there a secret readmission procedure for forum members 😉?

Sounds like some people poked the bear too many times. Now we can't see the old used Lazy Daze price guide...
Please Don, link it back for us....pretty please.

Steve, I'm the one that provided the price guide to Don. If you message me your email address, I can send you a pdf copy. I'm not sure the moderators want the guide linked to the LDO site any longer.

Thanks for the kind offer Greg. But I saved the 2019 price guide and have it under lock and key.
I argued with my good friend Chris H. about the moderators' decision to remove the price guide. I think "the bear" and I were perhaps the only member of the owners group who thought the price guide had value. Of course the market went crazy during Covid but now it has flipped in the other direction. I still think the guide has value but perhaps that is just me.
I do think there ought to be some way to have access to the Companion articles. Between that helpful guide and Larry's photos, it has helped me with numerous issues with my rig. I hope something can be worked out.
Peace,
Steve K
Until the situation is hopefully rectified, you can use the Internet Archives Wayback machine. Just search for "Lazy Daze Companion".
I have used the price guide to help me determine approximate price differences, between years …so please make it available
The price guide was nothing special (IMO), but can be easily replicated using a current new price (you have to make one up now since the factory doesn't provide one) and age in years.
For details, and a worked example - see here:
Lazy Daze Companion Access Issues (https://www.lazydazeowners.com/index.php?topic=36371.msg230194#msg230194)
It was a VERY simple depreciation model where the price gets 9.06% cheaper each year.

Hi Clark. Just emailed to you.
Until the situation is hopefully rectified, you can use the Internet Archives Wayback machine. Just search for "Lazy Daze Companion".
Thanks Deb, I’ll try the Wayback machine, as I’ve also been blocked from accessing the Companion, which is a real bummer!
Daryl
I tried Wayback but it only accessed the particular topic that happened to have been accessed when the disk image was captured. When I clicked on any of the topics listed on the right side of the image a page appeared that said no image existed. Perhaps I was not accessing correctly and if so, I would appreciate further guidance. The LDOC is a wonderful resource that is packed with useful information for all LD owner's.
Thanks. Matt
What was the topic? Sometimes you have to pick a different date. I'll give it a try.
I've used it to acess the old Lazy Daze site and at the time it worked well.
when is 2024 QUARTSITE CAMPING?
Hope to hear from someone.
Thanks

I answered your question three days ago in the Converter thread.

Yesterday I tried to use the link to Lazy Daze Companion and it took me to Blogger.com site and told me that permission denied. I tried to go directly and got the same message. Has this changed? Anyone else haven the same problem? I rebooted my computer but still get send to blogger.com. Any suggestions?
Kevin
Access has been restricted off and on over the years, as the gentleman who controls access has been pleased or displeased with various conversations or issues here on the forums.
It's a shame, as it contains A LOT of valuable information contributed over the years by a wide variety of members.
It also represents A LOT of work by the curators, and their efforts now benefit no one.
In any case, it's not anything related to you or your computer.
Perhaps one day access will be restored. I found it to be extremely helpful, and it answers many of the questions that come up over and over again.

The control and operation of the Companion has been handed over to another Lazy Daze member of this forum who will be unable to address setting up the availability until later this year. He will advise here when the Companion is up and running again. It is quite a large endeavor to set up and manage as Don Malpas did over the years. Many have benefited from those of us that had made additions to the many topics in the Companion. Due to some health issues Don is unable to continue but found the new operator for the future. Be patient and the Companion will return.
Thank you!
Mike, glad to hear you and Don were able to find someone willing to take over this valuable resource!
Just tried to log in to the companion. No dice. So frustrating. How do we get a hold of Don to request access? Is his email anywhere or does he still answer PMs here? That companion has helped me resolve multiple issues.

You rock thank you! (Didn’t see it on my search)
[I've merged the recent Companion access topics into this one - Michelle]
If anyone is able to obtain an invite so I can access that site again, I'd greatly appreciate it. Looks like someone posted something that made admin upset so restriction is limited. Thanks in advance for any help provided.
I was able to get into Lazy Daze Companion today. Yay!!!
Looks like it's back online, at least for now. ;)
