I removed the topside mattress and use that space for storage. The only light up there is the little ceiling guy on the far right. Not useful for our purpose. Anyhow, I closed off the escape hatch and installed a much brighter light in the middle which does a good job of providing light for the whole bunk area. This light has four brightness levels.
I got two of these lights in the package so I'm going to replace the Thinlight on the ceiling in the back room as well. Might do the others too. I'll submit that idea to the Committee.

Looks good but a couple questions. Will the new lights cover the hole left by the old florescent fixture? What did you do with the curb on the roof for the escape hatch?

I used a piece of plywood to cover the hole and mounted the light onto that.

No change on the roof. I put in a piece of foam under the hatch and screwed it closed. On the inside I used a piece of thick foam and pushed the plywood base up against it.
I installed one of these in the back room ceiling. I used a piece of plywood there too although I believe the fixture is just big enough to cover the factory hole. I like the one up front as it really illuminates the bunk-storage area. The one in the back... not so much. The light is advertised as natural but it is colder than I like. We'll see how it goes. In the back, I'll revert to my original LED Slimlight if I don't like this one.
Anyhow, for nice comfortable lighting throughout the coach, I wouldn't recommend these.

I may have misunderstood your question when I posted above. if you mean the original LD fixture, I had replaced that one with a different LED fixture. I removed that one and will put a blank up there. Probably one of those metal off white round ones.

JOR on my older Lazy Daze, when I remove the fluorescent fixture there is a rectangular opening for the ballast area to recess in. I was wondering if the new fixture was large enough to cover that opening. Nice light but I think something in the 2700 K range would be in order for us.

Oh, I see. You are referring to mounting the new light onto the Thinlight fixure. I don't think it would fit. If you remove that fixture entirely, the new light just fits over the hole though. If you prefer to leave the Thinlight fixture in place I think you would be better off just installing LED strips. That's what I did on all of mine.

I think I'll leave well enough alone, I've already converted my florescent tubes to LED. I just thought yours might be an upgrade in a couple places. Thanks
