Title: Electric Step Fuse Location - 2019 Midbath
Post by: Bill M on December 08, 2023, 03:00:59 pm
The owner's manual lists the location of three fuses for the electric step in a 2019 Midbath. I understand two of them, but I'm unclear about this one:

5 AMP MINI-FUSE - Located behind the electric step "ON/OFF" switch at the entry door cabinet. It is accessible through the backside of the cabinet.

Does the mean that you have to remove one of wardrobe drawers to find it ?

As always, thanks in advance for your help.

I wouldn't think so... you should be able to pop/pry the switch out from where it's mounted and locate the fuse on the wire.  ;)  :)

I tried to pry off that switch but was afraid the plastic would crack so I went at it from behind. Pulled the drawer out. Here's what it looks like back there.

Older LDs like Lazy Bones or our LD's light switch by the door just unscrews to access the wiring and hidden fuse, I never was successful in opening one of the newer switches such as Jor's, being afraid of breaking it.
Be assured, there is a 5-amp fuse hidden behind the switch.

I don't have an electric step on my 2019 TK so I only have two switches.  The switch covers are held on by a round tab on each side of the switch housing.  I used a thin putty knife on the left side of the switches to disengage these tabs.  The right side of the switches have a sticky goo that keeps the switch covers in place and from rattling around.  Removing the four screws reveals the very short switch wires.

Thanks Jor.  I also want to mention that when I pulled the switch panel away from the wall the top wire from one of the switches came off.  LD used the standard quick disconnect crimp terminals for the switch connections.  When I reinstalled it, the connection was fairly loose on the switch so I slightly crimped both sides of the connector to get a tight fit.  I checked the other three connectors and they were tight.  So if you are having issues with your electric step, porch light, or entry light this could be the source of the problem.

Yup, spade terminals are notorious for that!   ::)
