Cleaning the screens and blades of the exhaust has always been a problem.
just discovered that Tilex shower cleaner just dissolves the grime making the cleanup exceptionally easy.
Zep citrus cleaner does a great job also.
Tilex shower cleaner is pretty toxic stuff (https://www.thecloroxcompany.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Tilex-Daily-Shower-Concentrate.pdf). If using that, especially on overhead surfaces, I'd definitely wear gloves and a respirator. Zep Citrus Cleaner is not much safer (https://zsds3.zepinc.com/ehswww/zep/result/direct_link.jsp?P_LANGU=E&P_SYS=2&P_SSN=11337&C001=MSDS&C002=CA&C003=E&C013=45576C&C123=SDS*) (and unlike Tilex, it's flammable).
But there shouldn't be a need for anything more than a good detergent. Something like 409, or even hand dishwashing liquid, works fine in my experience.
Almost any cleaning liquid will work on the fan blades, the liquid being the operative word, the dirt needs to dissolve.
Pick your favorite cleaner.
Windex works well on the blades and for many other light-duty cleaning jobs.

I’ve recently discovered ‘The Pink Stuff’ and it works great on the bathtub in the house. Most likely it will be too abrasive for our LD sinks and shower, however, I just learned about ‘The Pink Stuff-All Purpose Spray Cleaner’ after watching a recent episode of “Keep Your Daydream”.

I agree to try regular cleaners first (we use a mild dishsoap or cleaning vinegar or even baking soda and vinegar for most things and often use simple green but mostly outside). But when those don’t work…. We tried Dawn which I don’t like (for me while it cuts grease it puts particles in the air I don’t want to breathe). But when we could get nothing else to work, and the vent fan blades in one spot was one of those areas, we found zep and it quickly easily took care of those tough areas.
