I'm going to have a shop perform a complete removal and replacement of the rear lower end caps on my 2007 Lazy Daze Midbath. Earlier this year, I purchased new end caps from Todd, so I have those here ready to go. In the Lazy Daze Companion, there are two articles about end caps here:
The Lazy Daze Companion: Search results for end caps (https://lazydazearticles.blogspot.com/search?q=end+caps)
Question 1. There is mention of a newer adhesive that the factory had started using to attach the end caps. What exactly was this adhesive? Would it be better to use it rather than VHB?
Question 2. I believe the factory then used 3M 5200FC to seal the edges of the end caps. Should the 5200FC be applied anywhere else?
Question 3. Any other things I should be considering from those who have done this complete removal and replacement (not just a repair).
Thank you so much,

Haven't had the need to do this procedure on our 2004 30'IB so I cannot speak to the ease or difficulty. I have to presume you are comfortable with the shop who will do the work? And a point of curiosity, the new end caps are unpainted, no? Are your existing end caps worth saving against future need? ::)
Hi, Steve, the old end caps are definitely not worth saving. And yes, the new ones will need painting and pinstripes (I purchased the pinstripes from Todd along with the end caps). I will see how comfortable I am with the shop in the upcoming days. If I'm not comfortable with them, I won't have them do the work and will search for a different shop.

VHB tape can work great or fail spectacularly, it's all up to the preparation.

Lightly sand both surfaces with a 3M hand pad 74478, to deep clean the surfaces where the tape will be applied.

Prime both surfaces with VHB Tape Primer 94. Mask the edges where the caps will lay to prevent the primer from getting where you do not want it.

The rear caps have a seam in the middle that needs cleaning and resealing with 5200 FC.

Thanks so much, Larry, that is super helpful.
In the meantime, I heard back from Todd. He said the adhesive that the factory was using in their latter years was called Plexus MA 830. It’s a two-part component that mixes with a special gun.
I'll talk to the shop and make a decision about which way to go--VHB or Plexus MA 830.
Thanks again!
Any update here?
