Saw a few people on the Internet use a 5x5 vinyl fence post and some vinyl 4 inch gutter to create a sewer storage.
On the lazy daze there is virtually zero space under the coach to add such storage, but after gazing at the coach for a while I noticed a possible mounting location within the triangular “skids” in the rear.
sadly the skids don’t fit a 5x5 fence post….but with a cut down the bottom the post can be squeezed into the skids. I riveted some material to the edges of the tube to bring it back square. Unless you’re laying under the coach it looks like a perfect fit.
I drilled a few holes in the skids and cut some access in the fence post to bolt it in place.
The gutter is a perfect tray, holds 2 sections of sewer hose and pulls in and out nice and smooth.
Capped one end and capped the other end with some shock cord to hold the cap in place.
Obviously the width has to be just right to avoid possibly rubbing the storage on the ground at a bump, but I think I’ve got it dialed in to be completely out of the way.
Is this for additional sewer hose storage? We use the storage that came with the LD and have an extra piece in one of the compartment just in case we need a long one.

I rarely use full hookups so the short original sewer hose is adequate, but the 1-2 times a year I have full hookups it’s nice to have plenty of hose.

For fishing poles, a piece of 4" ABS pipe, with 2 caps can be installed under the rear bumper, Glue one cap shut and the other cap s drilled for a large bolt, also drilled to accommodate a lock.

Some folks simply put the extra hose in a trash bag and place it inside the faux spare tire cover. It’s a good use for that otherwise useless space.

Most floor plans have the spare tire located behind the rear cover.
Our 24' FL has enough room to add a 50' garden hose for use with the macerator pump...and that's it.

Recently I had a problem inserting the sewer hose back into the built in storage tube under the coach. This had not been a problem until now. I finally had a chance to get under the coach and inspect the storage tube which had no visible signs of crimping. Unfortunately the visual inspection is difficult because it is behind framing and storage compartments.
Instead of dealing with this issue further I remember another LDO Forum member (Cor2man) had installed a storage container behind the rear bumper and I thought this was a good idea.
I started digging around my shop and found a 10' piece of schedule 40 4" PVC pipe. This too fit inside the skid shoe framework as Cor2man's tray did. I cut the PVC to 86" and glued screw in cap fittings on each end of the pipe after the pipe was in place. To secure the pipe in the 1/4" steel framework on both sides of the pipe I drilled a hole to fit a #6 X 1/2" self taping screw through. I also cleaned the steel that would come in contact with the pipe and applied strips of 1" VHB tape. The wall of the pipe is 1/4" so the screws didn't penetrate to the inside surface. To limit the travel of the hose inside the pipe I screwed a #12 X2 1/2 " self taping screw at the midway point in the bottom of the pipe. This allowed me to carry two hoses accessible from each end of the pipe. I drilled a hole through the cap fitting and housing, threaded it with a 1/4 (20) tap, and inserted a 1/2" thumb screw to secure the cap in place while driving. I have used the Prest-to-Fit hose systems for many years because they are so easy to configure and use. The second hose can easily be added to the first hose with a coupler for additional length or as a replacement for the first hose.

Nice upgrade, Mike! I don't use the LD storage tube (except to mount the outside temperature sensor in) so that is an upgrade I am interested in. Bookmarked for future reference.

Never had an issue with the sewer hose but did need a place to store fishing poles.
In 2003, I installed a3” ABS pipe and fittings, along with a locking pin that worked fine for the application.
