Title: Awning Shock Absorbers
Post by: jor on June 30, 2023, 02:38:50 pm
We were up in New Mexico a couple of weeks ago and I started to bring the awning down when... KABOW!!! I ducked and crouched thinking that baby was coming down! Nope. Still up there but with a broken neoprene bushing. That thing just exploded. Anyhow, I didn't use the awning anymore on that trip.

When we got home I fired up this site and went to the Companion. Everything I needed to know about this issue was there. Kudos to those of you who wrote this one up. Should be entitled "All You Ever Wanted to Know about Awnings but Were Afraid to Ask!"

Anyhow, here's a few photos but for a complete description with great photos, slide over to the Companion. Parts are ten bucks each plus shipping.

Expect to replace the shock absorbers every ten years or so, the plastic hardens with age and become brittle.
FYI for those who have not replaced the shock absorber, there is a left and right  piece that are not interchangeable .
