Title: Need help to identify 2 red wires coming from inverter
Post by: kevin hannah on May 05, 2023, 03:08:29 pm
HI,

I am upgrading my LD with updated solar and lithium batteries as well as a 2200W inverter. My question is I current have a PowerSource 400 watt inverter installed by the factory for the entertainment center. There is a switch at the entertainment center that turns on the power to the tv. My question is that the 120v wire is wired into the inverter as well as two red wires. I don't know what these wires are for. Does anyone have any ideas what these wires are for? My LD is a 2000 Rear Kitchen and it was ordered with the entertainment center. I will try to load 3 pictures of the problem. Picture 3 is behind the battery box with the 5 wires, white, black and ground for the entertainment center and then the 2 red wires. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

The Powerstar UPG400 manual can be found on-line here (https://www.absak.com/pdf/manuals/Powerstar/upgman.pdf).  Page 7 and 8 describe the functions of the 5-pin connector.  Pin 1 and 2 (red and red) are for a remote on-off switch.  Connecting these two pins through a standard SPST switch will turn on/off the inverter.  The 120VAC output is: pin 3 (white) neutral, pin 4 (black) hot and pin 5 (green) ground.  The 2 big terminals (red and black) are the 12V input supplied by the coach battery.

Hi JohnR,

That is exactly what I was looking for. I did a search but could not find the manual and I appreciate you finding it. The inverter's switch was off but had a wall switch by the entertainment center. So that became the remote switch. When I replace the inverter and wired the two red wires together and then into it and then turned on the new inverter the tv turned on. So now I can disconnect the two red wires and use the included remote of the inverter to turn on the tv.

Thank you for getting me the answer, I appreciate the time you took to find it for me.
