It looks like we can't get it in California or have it shipped here?
"...or have it shipped here?"
I have ordered it from Amazon some time ago but in checking their website I now see that they won't ship to CA. >:(
I purchased some from Bob Howle Automotive and RV about a year and a half ago. You might give them a call:
Auto Service & Auto Repair in Lancaster | Bob Howle Automotive & RV (https://bobhowleauto.mechanicnet.com/)
I had trouble getting it to go into a solution so stopped using it as it tended to clump.

What alternative did you find?
Hi Ted. "California's SB-317 bill bans the use of certain chemicals in RV holding tank treatments and also prevents stores from selling treatments containing restricted chemicals. Chemicals that CA SB-317 bill bans: Formaldehyde, Bronopol, Dowicil, Formalin, Glutaraldehyde, Paraformaldehyde, Para-dichlorobenzene, and Benzene. "
I've been using Amazon.com: Thetford 96634 Aquamax Spring Showers 6-8 Oz : Automotive (https://www.amazon.com/Thetford-96634-Aquamax-Spring-Showers/dp/B08N87Q9M6/ref=asc_df_B08N87Q9M6/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=532716847081&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14368246596944295512&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9061201&hvtargid=pla-1458102145895&th=1). It seems to work just as well. There are lots of enzyme based treatments out there.
Many farflung campgrounds have just a big septic tank similar to what a home would have. Dumping a black tank of 50-100 gallons with a formaldehyde based chemical would kill the bacteria in a septic tank. Leaving a non working sanitary system after the offending trailer or MH had left. RonB

I thought it was safe.
Thanks

I was having issues with my SeeLevel system not reading correctly on the black water tank. I called the manufacturer and they recommended Happy Camper, said they had had good luck on problems such as mine. I tried it, with mixed results. I cannot definitely say that it helped.
But prior to and subsequently I have used the enzyme product called Eco-Save. They are a california (Santa Rosa) company and I order their product a case at a time. A couple of small cups (thumb size) are all that's needed after each dump. I've not experienced any problems with the readouts since that time.

I used Pure Power, Digest-It, and Eco Save; Digest-It and Eco Save were consistently effective.
Hi Joan
Do you use the Eco-Save exclusively? Or with another product?
I downloaded the ECO-Save Order form and plan to order first thing in the morning.
Thanks,
Tony R. (aka codefour)
Tony,
I also use Eco-Save, in the heat of summer, and have had good experience with it.

Eco-Save,Digest-It, and Pure Power singly in separate “efficiency trials” under similar conditions. As said, Eco-Save and Digest It performed similarly well.

Back in the early and blissful days before Lazy Daze I was using that terrible blue formaldehyde stuff. Then, upon a visit to Omaha I got jerked up short when I was told, under no uncertain terms, that I was NOT allowed to dump my tanks in the campground where I was then staying. Something about killing the good critters in their waste system. By the way, did you ever wonder why embalmers use the stuff? Yes, you're right, it's a preservative!
On my previous travel trailer and again on the LD I experienced false tank readings with the old style 'through the tank-wall' sensors. That's when I switched to Eco-Save. With all those little microbes busy gobbling up the nastys in the tank and leaving everything nice and clean I had far less false readings. Make sure you fill the tank with treated water at infrequent intervals and take it for a drive to wet down the entire interior walls. The little microbes need to be able to reach every inch of surface area in order to be effective. Letting that full tank sit a couple of days is all the better!
Thanks - to all of you. I will give it a go!

Good timely post. I was just getting ready to order some Happy Camper because I read some good things about it. After reading this post Eco-Save is what I'll be buying.
Thanks All.
Ron
I've been searching this morning for a source for Eco-Save, but the offerings are skimpy. Will the first person to find this via mail order please offer up the location for the members?
Many thanks.

Judie, on the link that Steve posted, click on “Products” to get descriptions of each, then call them to get prices; ordering directly from the company in Santa Rosa, CA, was the only way I found to get the product. I usually ordered 2 quarts at a time (depending on trip frequency and length).
"...click on “Products” to get descriptions of each, then call them to get prices;..."
You can also click on Order Form & Price List... it will show what products they offer and a list of prices for each option. Then you can fill out the order form and mail it in or, better yet, just pick up the phone and call it in. ;D
Missed the price list on the site; tiny phone screen, old eyes! Thanks, Steve! ;)
Actually you don't need to add anything to the tank. Trillions of bacteria already in the waste.

I'm with Don. If your air admittance valves are in good order, you should never have any odor from the either tank. We do, however, add a spot of Dawn and Calgon along with a half bucket of water after dumping. No prob.

Good practice
For several years I have just added an inexpensive packet of Cascade Complete dishwasher soap (see pix) to the black tank after dumping. It contains Dawn degreaser also. I never use the black tank level gauge as I can look directly down through the toilet to see the water level. When the tank is empty the plastic tank surface is always clean. It also helps to have the Camco tank rinser for flushing the tank. After the first flush it generally takes at least one (sometimes more) other partially fill (via the tank rinser) and flush to have all the solids totally washed out. We also use Cascade in our home dishwasher. Always worked well.
We use the the Wales bio-packs, they come in pods like the cascade, but it's apparently made with the microorganisms that a septic tank would have or something like that. Anyways they're pretty great!

Is the cascade the only thing that you use in the black tank? Does it break down the solids, and does it get rid of the smell.
The Cascade is used to keep the tank surfaces clean. In addition, I use whatever digestive enzymes deodorizer I can find in a store. That’s it.

We have used a good water clean-out. Run water to clear. Maybe now and again a bit of liquid soap (the pink stuff).
Cheap and free at most black tank dumps.
