Title: Sealand Toilet Seat Replacement
Post by: Jules on May 16, 2022, 05:05:41 pm
My toilet seat hinge has broken so I want to replace.  The manual specifies DOMETIC (385343831) Seat Cover Assembly, Bone White.

Any one with experience who can confirm that model number, I’d sure appreciate a confirmation that info is correct.

Keeping my ‘06 IB going down the road is taking a bit more work but I’m never going to sell her until I absolutely have to.

Thanks,

Jules

See this.  I found a replacement (an upgrade, even) at Home Depot.

Soft close toilet seat (replacement for original in 2003 MB) (https://www.lazydazeowners.com/index.php?topic=34508.msg211771#msg211771)

"Any one with experience who can confirm that model number,..."

Nowhere is it written that you have to remain brand allegiant, particularly when it's such a mundane item like a toilet seat. All the home improvement/hardware stores are full of seats that will work. They are pretty much standard. You may even find something that stirs your imagination. But be careful, the distaff side may have different opinions. I had installed an open front seat but the minute Lazy Bones2 took the helm my seat was discarded in favor of the closed front style.   ::)   ;)

Go with a bidet. You'll never go back!

When I rebuilt my sealand toilet (a very ucky job) I also decided to change out the toilet seat.  I bought a toilet seat from Home Depot that has the soft close feature and it is great.  No more loud thunk in the middle of the night.

Not sure if it will work for you but i have been using clear Gorilla expoy to repair a.few.things.....dries clear and boy is it strong. It might be a temporary fix while you search.....make sure to let it dry fo 24.to 48 hours....apply first coat let it dry tthen apply another thin coat. Good. Luck
Worked on a switch for a 30 year old electrolux....the switch is now tough as the vaccum has always been...

I had to replace mine this year as well. I was able to get one at Home Depot or less than $20.

I’ve wanted a soft closed Bemis in a matching color for a long time.  However I’d given up hope of finding one until Rich’s helpful post.  I’m pleased to say my aging bum is much happier now.  Thank you Rich.
