Title: Recumbent Trike Tow Cart
Post by: Bzoo on February 21, 2022, 06:06:22 pm
I purchased a recumbent trike and am now faced with finding a tow hitch cart/ramp that will work with my 2005 mid-bath LD.  I was looking for something with a ramp, preferably.  It's 73" long; 30" wide.  Anyone have something that works for them?  I'm thinking I might end up visiting a steel fabricator, but there must be an easier answer than starting from scratch??!  Thank you for any suggestions.

A quick search brought up this.
1 Trike Tilting Rack by Hitch Rider Racks (https://www.hitchrider.com/hrt1-2t.htm)

The 30" width eliminates using a modified bike rack. A custom rack would be an interesting fabrication project.
If you tow or plan to, that needs to be taken into consideration.

Most recumbent owners I know carry them in their toads.

BZOO,
We ride two-wheeled recumbents and have done so for decades.  Hollywood bike racks makes a really nice  recumbent bike rack that was moderately priced and we have used behind our Lazy Daze for years.  We also carry them inside a trailer when we bring a motorcycle.
Laid Back Cycles has recommendations for racks for recumbent tadpoles. I called them and they have several recommendations racks to carry recumbent tadpoles.

Several of my bicycle friends have gone to tadpoles and really like them.

I’m happy with a Hollywood rack that I’ve had for maybe ten years.  Brought it to carry a recumbent bike along with other bikes (up to 4 total).  A friend recently purchased a new Hollywood rack to carry her bike along with her husband’s trike (to allow him to keep riding with his Parkinson's disease).  Mine does not have a ramp.  Not sure if they make ramps with the newer ones.
