Title: Roof sealant
Post by: 92 new on September 18, 2021, 05:13:29 pm
Group
On the roof today removing old sealant. The old sealant is a brownish color with dicor over the screws.
What is the under coat?
It looks like a polyurethane of some kind.

It's well age sealant of some sort, not sure when LD started using polyurethane as their primary sealant.
Cut it away and start over, a vibratory tool with a sharp blade easily cuts through it.

Pl loctiite. It has been a job. Now thinking of coating entire roof with a roof coating to maybe deflect some heat off the aluminum

Your roof should already be white, which is a great reflector of heat.
Unless you do a really excellent prep, any coating will be prone to peeling and cause a maintenance nightmare. Think long and hard before coating your roof.
