There are times on the road or while parking I wish I had a better view of what's around the rig, like many of you, I have a few encounters with immovable objects that I could not see in the mirrors or backup camera. Seven years ago I test drove a new Nissan, equipped with their new Bird's Eye View system, the dash monitor showed an overhead view and several camera views depending on if the vehicle to going forward, in reserve or turning, with the turn signals on.
I liked it and wanted it but hated driving the vehicle (a Nissan Rogue). Now aftermarket bird's eye cameras are becoming available for us who own vehicles not originally equipped with them.
If you already have a backup camera whose monitor uses RCA plugs, it can be used or use a kit that includes a monitor.

The kits come with four cameras and a shock sensor. Cameras are mounted on the front and rear and two fish-eye cameras are mounted under the exterior rearview mirrors, to provide complete side views. The system's computer controls the cameras and stitches the images together into a usable image.
The shock sensor turns the systems video recorder on if an impact is detected, good for parking lot accidents and hit and runs.
Whatever camera view is on at the time, the recorder is running. The memory is upgradeable for a longer recording time.
I have no idea of the dependability of such a system but it's good that things are changing and we can finally have a better camera system and maybe save our LDs from a few more bumps and dings.

My wife has this technology on her 2012 Infiniti and loves it........and if you saw our garage you'd appreciate how useful it could be!!!

My wife’s Volvo has the 360° view as well, didn’t occur to me that it might be available to install on a RV. I’ve added to my list to add to my LD.
