I need quality screws that won't rust.
Home Depot and the like are not reliable.
My window frame screws are already rusting.
I need #8 5/8" sheet metal screws.
Thanks
I replaced all the screws that run along the bottom of our rig where the lower fiberglass section meets the aluminum. I used stainless steel screws from Ace Hardware. They have held up well.
For what it's worth, years ago I looked at a used LD that spent 50% of its time along the Florida coast. There was so much corrosion on the hardware of that rig. I guess the salty air did a number on it. I believe your rig came from Florida didn't it? If so, I am not surprised you are seeing signs of rusty screws.

Hi Steve K. Greg's used rig (Hilola) came from Florida. Ted's (Tedyboy) new 2021 rig was a a showroom floor model from Montclair. No salt air influence that far inland. I buy stainless screws from both Lowes and Home Depot. Also Amazon and Harbor Freight. I'm about 8 miles distant from Del Mar, and hopeful that there is little salt air. I do spend time just feet from the Pacific when I can. RonB

We bought it new this year from the LD Factory.
Fastenal may have the screws you seek.

Sorry for the confusion Ted! I mixed up two of my favorite 😋 questioners.

West Marine carries a good selection.

I'm wondering if the SS screws would react with the aluminum window frame?
Dissimilar metals.

High-grade stainless steel is not going to act adversely with aluminum. The screws linked too are very resistant to corrosion.
I use a lot of stainless hardware from Home Depot, Lowes and Ace and have had good results.
You can add even more protection using an anti-corrosive paste on the threads

MacMaster-Carr (see Larry's link)... and be sure to get 316 stainless--it's more corrosion-resistant than the lower grades (18-8, 303, 410, etc.). I rarely if ever see 316 stainless hardware in hardware stores. (If it's just labeled "stainless steel," you can bet it's not 316.) MacMaster usually delivers in 1-2 days, so you won't have to wait long. One of many things I learned from my boater friends...
Hi Ted. Judging by the picture I can only assume that someone at Lazy Daze grabbed the wrong box of screws when they were installing your window. I've spent hundreds of dollars worth on stainless screws from Home Depot lately, and in the past. Lowes doesn't offer the #10-32 screws I prefer (only 10-24). They are on my motorhome, previous motorhome, outdoor projects and other (friends) trailers and such. I haven't seen any galvanic corrosion like in your picture. Is it only one window, or are all of your outdoor screws 'rusting'?
These have a slightly larger head, and a bit longer. I'm sure you can safely use the longer, black coated, 304 stainless screws, but the larger head may not fit.

I'd put a dab of sealer in each hole before putting in the new screws. edit: looking for standard head ....
Found standard head, 304 stainless screws. A little black touch up paint, would make it blend in better, and protect it from corrosion. #8 x 3/4" Stainless Phillips Pan Head Wood Screws (100 pc), 18-8 (304)... The rust is really happening fast with the bathroom window frame screws and I assume that is due to the increased moisture from showering.
However, the other window frame screws have some rust also.
Todd thinks they may have got a bad batch (ya think?) He found an older batch of screws he'll send me he said. Don't know how many but there's a lot of screws when you add up all the windows. I'm still leaning towards installing quality I know I can order.
Hi Ted; I altered my above post to include these screws. A bottle of black (car) touch up paint would protect the heads of these better quality screws, #8 x 3/4" Stainless Phillips Pan Head Wood Screws (100 pc), 18-8 (304)... White paint for the other locations. RonB

Good plan, IMO.
