We have our knives stored alongside a utensil tray in one of the kitchen drawers. This solution ensures no flying knives but is hard on knife edges and occasionally fingers! I’ve seen knife magnets installed against the refrigerator (Mid Bath), and inside the under-sink door. What knife storage solutions have folks found that they really like?
Thanks,
Warren
Warren, we just installed a small magnetic holder on the fridge wall, above the stove. Haven’t used it on a trip yet but the knives will only come out after we’re parked. ;)
I use a magnetic strip mounted to the left wall next to my stove in a 23.5 FL.
It hold the knives very well, they don't ever fall off in transit.

Kitchen Sink Door
That kitchen sink door is a great place to store stuff! Here’s what we have on ours:
We use a magnetic knife rack with an added safety bar that prevents the knives from falling or being thrown forward in case of an accident.
Bought the rack at Ikea and a 1' wide strip of aluminum a Lowes, for the safety bar

Well, we still keep ours in a drawer, but when moving they are sheathed in paper towel sleeves to keep from jostling the edges. Lo-tec, but works for us.

All of our longer blades are stored in the cupboard above the stove in cloth boxes. Easily accessible. The ladles are there too.
Once we’ve reached our destination, many items are placed on the countertops.
Safety first...projectiles are best left for the 4th of July. 🇺🇸

Kent, I see we have the same idea about attaching fridge magnets on the stove vent hood. Your collection is more impressive than mine. 👍
Greg,
Some of our magnets are Christmas Ornaments. Amazon sells rolls of “plastic” magnets that trim nicely for getting creative with “hanging” curios.

Not too good for hanging knives. 😖

Like others, I got a magnetic holder and put it on the wall behind the sink. After looking at it in the rear-view mirror for a while I got to thinking a sudden stop would let them move directly at the drivers seat.
So I added a couple of BINDER POSTS (https://www.amazon.com/Silver-Aluminum-Screw-Chicago-2-Inch/dp/B01LQQ7DXI/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?_encoding=UTF8&c=ts&dchild=1&keywords=Binding+Screw+Post&qid=1624661613&s=office-products&sr=1-3-spons&ts_id=490548011&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExRDI4OEdDMkxSR0pLJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDY2MzEyMjhLT0tDRElMVFRDSiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMDQwODgxWE1GWDJTQ1JJUUlTJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==) , got a piece of stock aluminum and drilled a couple of holes so it covered the knives.
Please overlook the less than stellar quality of the millwork. You might want to put a bit of loctite on the threads of the binder post.

Launching the knives was my worry too, our rack's safety bar is very similar.

Which contrasts marginal competence with master craftsmanship ;)
Good idea and nice work Joel.
I love stealing good ideas from you smart guys. Binder posts...

Kitchen Sink Door
I REALLY like the kitchen sink door idea! I avoid sharp objects because I tend to cut myself. I also drop things. Yes, I'm a klutz. But I know my limitations. :-)
Thanks for the pics.
Kent,
I like your refrigerator magnet display on the stove!

We have the camp co knife safe, I feel more comfortable with it than a magnetic strip, we travel a lot on gravel roads so I wanted knives secure
I have used the magnetic bar for my knives AND we boondock mostly so we are on some rough roads (not with LD yet but Jayco now) and sometimes they shift a bit but never fall off or go flying.
